His saying, Exalted is He: "Then when he came to it, he was called."
16886 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us: Ibrahim ibn Musa narrated to us: Ibn Abi Za'idah informed us: Isra'il informed us, from al-Suddi, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "He was called from the edge of the blessed valley," he said: The call was from the lowest heaven.
16887 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us: 'Ali ibn al-Madini narrated to us: Muhammad ibn 'Amr ibn Miqsam narrated to us, who said: I heard 'Ata' ibn Muslim saying: I heard Wahb ibn Munabbih saying: Indeed, Allah, Mighty and Majestic is He, spoke to Moses in a thousand stations, and when He spoke to him, the light was seen upon his face for three days, then Moses did not forget a word after his Lord had spoken to him.
16888 - Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la reported to us by way of reading: Ibn Wahb informed us: Bakr ibn Mudar informed me, from Ibn 'Ajlan, who said: Allah spoke to Moses in all languages, and among what He spoke was in the Berber tongue. He said His word in Berber: "I am Allah the Great."
His saying, Exalted is He: "And that, 'Throw down your staff.'"
16889 - It was mentioned from al-Hasan ibn al-Hulwani: Abu Yahya narrated to us: Habib ibn Hassan narrated to us, from Muslim, who said: The staff of Moses is the beast from the beasts of the earth.
Its interpretation has preceded.
His saying, Exalted is He: "Then when he saw it writhing as if it were a jann (snake), he turned to flee."
16890 - Abu 'Abd Allah al-Tehrani reported to us in what he wrote to me: Isma'il ibn 'Abd al-Karim narrated to us: 'Abd al-Samad ibn Ma'qil narrated to us, who said: I heard Wahb saying: The Lord, Mighty and Majestic is He, said to him: "Throw it, O Moses." Moses thought He was saying: "Discard it," so he threw it down with the intention of discarding it. He then took a glance, and behold, it was the greatest serpent eyes had ever seen. It was crawling, searching, seeking something to take, passing by a rock like a young camel, swallowing it, and piercing with one of its fangs into the base of a great tree, uprooting it. It had two eyes that were like two fires burning. The crook of the staff had become a mane containing hair like shooting stars, and the two ends of the fork had become like a wide pit, containing molars and fangs that had a gnashing sound. When Moses witnessed that, he turned to flee and did not look back.
