His saying, Exalted is He: "And We will grant you both authority."
16910 - 'Ubayd ibn Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Hamzah al-Dimashqi informed us, in what he wrote to me: Abu al-Jumahir narrated to us: Sa'id narrated to me, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And We will grant you both authority through Our signs"—before the people of faith, "and an excuse"—before the people.
His saying, Exalted is He: "They will not reach you. Through Our signs, you and those who follow you will be the predominant."
16911 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us: al-Rabi' ibn Tha'lab, the righteous shaykh, narrated to us: Abu Isma'il al-Mu'addib narrated to us, from 'Abd Allah ibn Muslim, from Mujahid, he said: The heart of Moses, peace be upon him, was filled with terror of Pharaoh. Whenever he saw him, he would say: "O Allah, I confront you with him and I seek refuge in You from his evil." So Allah removed what was in the heart of Moses and placed it in the heart of Pharaoh; whenever he saw him, he would urinate as a donkey urinates.
His saying, Exalted is He: "And when Moses came to them."
16912 - With his chain of transmission, from 'Abd Allah ibn Muslim, from 'Abd Allah ibn 'Ubayr ibn 'Umri, he said: Eighty doors would be locked before Pharaoh, yet Moses would not approach a door among them but it would open. He would not speak to anyone until he stood before him.
