Volume 9 · Page 189His saying (the Exalted): 'And on the Day of Resurrection, they will be among those who are disgraced'

Translation · EN

His saying, Exalted is He: "And on the Day of Resurrection they will be of those who are shunned."

16926 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman ibn al-Ash'ath narrated to us: al-Husayn ibn 'Ali ibn Mihran narrated to us: 'Amir ibn al-Furat narrated to us: Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: "And We followed them in this world with a curse," he said: No prophet was sent after Pharaoh but that he was cursed upon his tongue, and on the Day of Resurrection, another curse will follow them in the Fire.

His saying, Exalted is He: "And We certainly gave Moses."

The interpretation of 'atayna' (We gave) has been previously presented as 'a'tayna' (We granted).

His saying, Exalted is He: "The Book."

16927 - My father narrated to us: 'Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us: Jarir narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Muslim, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was given the seven oft-repeated [verses] (al-Mathani), and Moses was given the six oft-repeated [verses].

16928 - al-Mundhir ibn Shadhan narrated to us: Hawdhah ibn Khalifah narrated to us: 'Awf narrated to us, from Abu Nadrah, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, he said: Allah did not destroy any nation among the nations, nor any generation among the generations, nor any town among the towns—neither from the sky nor from the earth—since He sent down the Torah upon the face of the earth, except for the town whose inhabitants Allah transformed into apes. Do you not see that Allah, Almighty and Exalted is He, says: "And We certainly gave Moses the Book after We had destroyed the former generations as enlightenment for the people and guidance and mercy" (the verse).

His saying, Exalted is He: "Enlightenment for the people."

16929 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, [who was] informed by al-'Abbas: Yazid narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "enlightenment" (basa'ir), meaning clear evidence.

16930 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi narrated to us, in what he wrote to me, [who was] informed by Asbagh ibn al-Faraj, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding His saying: "enlightenment for the people," he said: The 'basa'ir' (enlightenments) are the guidance that is in their hearts for their religion, and they are not the sight of the heads (i.e., physical vision). He then recited: "For indeed, it is not eyes that are blinded, but blinded are the hearts which are within the breasts" (Qur'an 22:46). He said: This religion is its insight and its hearing [located] in this heart.

His saying, Exalted is He: "Guidance and mercy, that perhaps they might be reminded."

Its interpretation has been previously presented.
