15894 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: al-Hasan ibn 'Umar ibn Shaqiq al-Jarmi narrated to us, [saying]: Ja'far ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from Abu 'Imran al-Jawni, from 'Abd Allah ibn Rabah, from Ka'b, regarding "And We rained upon them a rain," [who] said: It was upon the people of their wilderness, upon their shepherds, and upon their travelers, so not one of them escaped.

His saying (the Almighty): "A rain."

15895 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Marwazi narrated to us, [saying]: It was mentioned from Musa ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Qinbari, from al-Hakam ibn Aban, regarding His saying: "And We rained upon them a rain," [who] said: I heard Wahb saying: Sulfur and fire.

His saying (the Almighty): "Indeed in that is a sign..." to His saying: "the Exalted, the Merciful."

His saying (the Almighty): "The companions of the thicket denied the messengers."

15896 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: 'Ali ibn Hashim ibn Marzuq narrated to us, [saying]: Ishaq ibn Yusuf al-Azraq narrated to us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak regarding the saying of Allah: "The companions of the thicket denied the messengers," [who] said: They are the people of Shu'ayb.

15897 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, [saying]: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us, [saying]: Salamah narrated, [saying]: Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to me, [saying]: It was part of the story of Shu'ayb, his news, and the news of his people, what Allah has mentioned in the Quran. They were people who defrauded others in their measures and weights, along with their disbelief in Allah and their denial of their Prophet.

15898 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, [saying]: Asbagh reported, [saying]: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd saying regarding the saying of Allah: "The companions of the thicket denied the messengers," [who] said: The "thicket" (al-aykah) is the trees. They were people of the desert, so Allah sent Shu'ayb to his people, the people of Madyan—meaning the desert.

His saying (the Almighty): "The thicket (al-aykah)."

15899 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Abu Salih narrated to us, [saying]: Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "The companions of the thicket"—He says: The companions of the forest. And it was narrated from Sa'id ibn Jubayr the same.

15900 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd informed us in what he wrote to me, [saying]: My father narrated to me, [saying]: My paternal uncle narrated to me, [saying]: My father narrated to me, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "The companions of the thicket"—[who] said: The thicket is a collection of trees.
