His saying (the Almighty): "And weigh with the straight balance."
[The first interpretation]
15906 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, [saying]: 'Uqbah narrated to us, from Isra'il, from Jabir, from Mujahid, [regarding] "And weigh with the straight balance," [who] said: It is justice in the Roman [language].
15907 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, [saying]: al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, [saying]: Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, [saying]: Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah, [regarding] "And weigh with the straight balance," [who] said: The balance (al-qistas) is justice.
[The second interpretation]
15908 - My father narrated to me, [saying]: Muslim ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, [saying]: 'Abd al-Warith narrated to us, from 'Amr, from al-Hasan, regarding His saying: "And weigh with the straight balance," [who] said: It is the steelyard (al-qabban).
[The third interpretation]
15909 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Ishaq ibn 'Isa ibn bint Dawud ibn Abi Hind narrated to us, [saying]: Mubarak narrated to us, from al-Hasan, [who] said: [Regarding] "And weigh with the straight balance," [he] said: It is iron.
His saying (the Almighty): "And do not deprive people of their things."
15910 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying]: Minjab narrated to us, [saying]: Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "And do not deprive people of their things," [who] said: Do not wrong people [in regard to] their things. It was also narrated from Qatadah and al-Suddi, and [others] like that.
15911 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us, in what he wrote to me, [saying]: Asbagh informed [us], [who] said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd regarding the saying of Allah: "And do not deprive people of their things," [who] said: Do not diminish them; [someone might] specify a thing for him and [then] give him something else.
His saying (the Almighty): "And do not commit abuse in the land."
15912 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying]: Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, [saying]: Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "And do not commit abuse in the land," [he] says: Do not move about [doing mischief] in the land.
15913 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, [saying]: al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, [saying]: Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, [saying]: Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah, [regarding] "And do not commit abuse in the land as corrupters," [who] says: Do not spread mischief in the land.

١٥٩٠٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا عُقْبَةُ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ وَزِنُوا بِالْقِسْطَاسِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ قَالَ: الْعَدْلُ بِالرُّومِيَّةِ.
١٥٩٠٧ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ وَزَنَوْا بِالْقِسْطَاسِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ قَالَ الْقِسْطَاسُ: الْعَدْلُ.

١٥٩٠٨ - حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَوْلُهُ: وَزِنُوا بِالْقِسْطَاسِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ قَالَ: الْقَبَّانُ.

١٥٩٠٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ بِنْتِ دَاودَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدَ، ثنا مُبَارَكٌ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ: وَزِنُوا بِالْقِسْطَاسِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ قَالَ: الْحَدِيدُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلا تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءَهُمْ
١٥٩١٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا مِنْجَابٌ أَنْبَأَ بِشْرٌ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلُهُ: وَلا تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءَهُمْ قَالَ: لَا تَظْلِمُوا النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءَهُمْ. وَرُوِيَ، عَنْ قتادة والسدى ونحو ذَلِكَ.
١٥٩١١ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ أنبأ إصبع قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ زَيْدٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: وَلا تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءَهُمْ قَالَ: لَا تَنْقُصُوهُمْ يُسَمِّي لَهُ شَيْئًا وَيُعْطِيهِ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلا تَعْثَوْا فِي الأَرْضِ
١٥٩١٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ أَنْبَأَ بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلُهُ: وَلا تَعْثَوْا فِي الأَرْضِ يَقُولُ: لَا تَسْعَوْا فِي الأَرْضِ.
١٥٩١٣ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ. ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ وَلا تَعْثَوْا فِي الأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ يَقُولُ: لَا تَسِيرُوا فِي الأَرْضِ.
