Translation · EN

17012 - Abu ‘Abd Allah al-Tehrani informed us in what he wrote to me, ‘Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma‘mar narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "A safe sanctuary," he said: The people of the sanctuary were safe; they would go wherever they wished. If one of them went out, he would say: "I am from the people of the sanctuary," and he would not be molested. Others among the people, if one of them went out, he would be killed or plundered.

His saying, Exalted is He: "Fruit of all things are brought to it."

17013 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Sharik, from ‘Uthman ibn Abi Zur‘ah, from Mujahid, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding: "Fruit of all things are brought to it," he said: The fruits of the earth.

His saying, Exalted is He: "As a provision from Us."

17014 - My father narrated to us, Adam ibn Abi Iyas narrated to us, Warqa’ narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "From Us," meaning: from Our presence.

His saying, Exalted is He: "But most of them do not know."

17015 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-‘Ala’ Abu Kurayb narrated to us, ‘Uthman al-Zayyat narrated to us, Bishr ibn ‘Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding: "Do not know," he says: They do not understand.

His saying, Exalted is He: "And how many a city have We destroyed that was insolent in its [way of] living?"

17016 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj informed us, ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam narrated to us regarding the saying of Allah: "And how many a city have We destroyed that was insolent in its [way of] living?" He said: Insolence (al-batr) is arrogance (al-ashar). They disobeyed and defied the command of Allah and became insolent. He then recited the saying of Allah: "That is because you used to exult in the earth without right and because you used to behave insolently. Enter the gates of Hell to abide therein, for evil is the residence of the arrogant." He said: This is insolence (al-batr). He then recited: "And how many a city have We destroyed that was insolent in its [way of] living?" Insolence is arrogance, heedlessness, the people of falsehood, and committing acts of disobedience to Allah. He said: That is insolence in living.

His saying, Exalted is He: "And those are their dwellings, not inhabited after them, except a little. And it is We who were the inheritors."

17017 - It was mentioned from Malik ibn Sulayman, Isra’il ibn Yunus narrated to us, from Abu Sadiq.
