uncle, from his father, from his grandfather, from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "And your Lord creates what He wills and chooses; not for them was the choice"—he said: They used to designate the best of their wealth for their idols during the Period of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah).
17054 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Mahmud ibn ‘Uthman narrated to us, Baqiyyah narrated to us, from Arta’ah, who said: I mentioned to Abu ‘Awn al-Homsi something regarding the opinion of the people of Qadar (predestination), and he replied: Do they not recite the Book of Allah, Blessed and Exalted be He: "And your Lord creates what He wills and chooses; not for them was the choice. Exalted is Allah and high above what they associate with Him."
His saying, Exalted is He: "Exalted is Allah and high above what they associate with Him."

17055 - Muhammad ibn Sa‘d ibn ‘Atiyyah informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my uncle narrated to me, my father narrated to me, from his father, from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "knows what their breasts conceal and what they declare"—he says: He knows what they did by night and by day.
17056 - ‘Abd Allah ibn Hilal al-Rumi al-Dimashqi narrated to us, from Ahmad ibn Abi al-Hawari, Sulayman al-Dari informed us, who says: He knows what is in the hearts, and there is nothing in the hearts except what He has cast into them.
His saying, Exalted is He: "And He is Allah; there is no deity except Him."

17057 - My father narrated to us, Musa ibn Isma‘il narrated to us, Wuhayb narrated to us, Suhayl ibn Abi Salih narrated to us, from his father, from al-Saluli, from Ka‘b who said: The praise of Allah (Al-Hamd lillah) is the commendation of Allah.
17058 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman al-‘Arzami narrated to us, Bazi‘ Abu Hazim narrated to us, from Yahya ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman—meaning Abu Bastam—from al-Dahhak, who said: Praise (al-hamd) is the mantle of the All-Merciful (al-Rahman).
His saying, Exalted is He: "And to Him is the judgment."
17059 - Abu ‘Abd Allah al-Tehrani informed us in what he wrote to me, Isma‘il ibn ‘Abd al-Karim narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Samad ibn Ma‘qil narrated to me that he heard his uncle, Wahb ibn Munabbih, say: ‘Uzayr said: Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, the Most High, will manifest upon the throne of majesty and light, and He will judge between the servants with a judgment in which there is no injustice, and after which there is no further oppression. He will grant justice to the servant against the master, and to the lowly against the noble, and He will say to His creation when He gathers them: "Look at whom you disbelieved, and whose right you denied, and whose word you called a lie. And look at what I have prepared for you; this is sovereignty, bliss, and splendor, and this is the Zaqqum, the scalding water, and the long woe." And the people will be standing for the Lord of the worlds.

١٧٠٥٤ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، ثنا بَقِيَّةُ، عَنْ أَرْطَاةَ، قَالَ: ذَكَرْتُ لأَبِي عَوْنٍ الْحِمْصِيِّ، شَيْئًا مِنْ قَوْلِ أَهْلِ الْقَدَرِ فَقَالَ: أَمَا يَقْرَءُونَ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى: وَرَبُّكَ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاءُ وَيَخْتَارُ مَا كَانَ لَهُمُ الْخِيَرَةُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَتَعَالَى عما يشركون.

١٧٠٥٦ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ هِلالٍ الرُّومِيُّ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي الْحَوَارِيِّ أَنْبَأَ سُلَيْمَانُ «١» الدَّارِيُّ يَقُولُ: يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي الْقُلُوبِ، وَلا يَكُونُ فِي الْقُلُوبِ إِلا مَا أَلْقَى فِيهَا.
