His saying, Exalted is He: "And that you may give thanks."
17067 - Muhammad ibn Hibal from the people of Marw informed us, and he wrote to me, ‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-Ghaffar al-Qahandazi narrated to us, who said: Sufyan ibn ‘Uyaynah said: It is incumbent upon every Muslim to thank Allah, because Allah said: "And that you may give thanks."
And the statement of al-Hubuli has previously been mentioned: "Prayer is gratitude," more than once.
His saying, Exalted is He: "And We will extract from every nation a witness."
17068 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa’ narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "a witness"—a messenger.
17069 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid narrated to us, from Sa‘id, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And We will extract from every nation a witness"—and its witness is its prophet, who will testify over it that he has conveyed the messages of his Lord.
His saying, Exalted is He: "Then We said, 'Produce your proof.'"
17070 - ‘Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam Abu Ja‘far narrated to us, from al-Rabi‘, from Abu al-‘Aliyah regarding His saying: "Say, 'Produce your proof'"—meaning: your argument. It was also narrated from Mujahid, al-Suddi, and al-Rabi‘ ibn Anas similarly.
17071 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-‘Abbas informed us, Yazid narrated to us, from Sa‘id, from Qatadah regarding "Then We said, 'Produce your proof'"—meaning: your evidence.
17072 - Abu ‘Abd Allah al-Tahrani informed me in what he wrote to me, Isma‘il ibn ‘Abd al-Karim narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Samad ibn Ma‘qil narrated to us, that he heard Wahb ibn Munabbih saying: Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, said:
"O company of jinn and mankind, listen to Me today and be silent before Me. By My might, no wrongdoer shall pass today with his wrong, nor one who fabricates lies about Me, nor one who innovates in My majesty. So produce your proof, O you who fabricate lies against Me, who innovate in My majesty, and who hold My right of majesty in contempt! What is it that has deceived you concerning Me? For I am He than Whom there is nothing similar. If I were to manifest Myself to the earth and the mountains, they would be shaken by My awe; if I were to look at the seas, their waters would dry up and their depths would appear out of fear of Me; and if all creation were to hear a word of My speech, they would be struck senseless from My fear. So produce your proof, O you ignorant ones, that this creation has a creator other than Me, and that I have a partner as you have claimed in My sovereignty, or a second god or protector alongside Me! And by what [right] did you worship them instead of Me, and for what reason did you deny them..."
