The fifth interpretation:

17096 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi reported to us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd narrated to us, regarding His saying: "...would burden a company of strong men"—he said: A company is between three and nine, and they are the group.

The sixth interpretation:

17097 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Sa‘id ibn Abi al-Rabi‘ al-Samman narrated to us, Abu ‘Awanah narrated to us, from Abu Bishr, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr who said: I asked, "How many is a company?" He replied, "Six or seven."

His saying, Exalted is He: "...of strong men"

17098 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa’ narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "...of strong men"—he said: Fifteen.

His saying, Exalted is He: "When his people said to him"

17099 - ‘Abd Allah ibn Sulayman ibn al-Ash‘ath narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn ‘Ali ibn Mihran narrated to us, ‘Amir ibn al-Furat narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding "When his people said to him, 'Do not exult'"—he said: These are the believers among them.

His saying, Exalted is He: "'Do not exult'"

17100 - Through the same chain, from al-Suddi, regarding "When his people said to him, 'Do not exult'"—he said: These are the believers among them, they said: "O Qarun, do not exult in what you have been given, for you will become insolent."

17101 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray‘ narrated to us, from Sa‘id, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "When his people said to him, 'Do not exult'"—meaning: Do not boast.

His saying, Exalted is He: "Indeed, Allah does not like the exultant"

[The first interpretation]

17102 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa’ narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "Indeed, Allah does not like the exultant"—the boasters, the arrogant, the insolent, who do not thank Allah for what He has given them.

[The second interpretation]

17103 - My father narrated to us, al-Nufayli narrated to us, al-‘Awwam narrated to us, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "'Do not exult. Indeed, Allah does not like the exultant'"—he said: The exultant here is the insolent.
