17216 - al-Husayn ibn al-Sakan al-Basri narrated to us, Abu Zayd al-Nahwi narrated to us, Qays narrated to us, from ‘Asim, from ‘Isa al-Madini, who said: I heard ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn ask Ka‘b al-Ahbar about His saying: "And the trumpet will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will fall dead except whom Allah wills. Who are those whom He excepted?" He said: They are thirteen: Gabriel, Michael, Israfil, the eight bearers of the Throne, the Angel of Death, and the Lord of Glory. He will command the Angel of Death, and he will take the souls of so-and-so, so-and-so, and the bearers of the Throne until no one remains except Him. Then the Lord of Glory will say: "Die, O Angel of Death," and he will die. That is His saying: "Everyone upon the earth will perish, and there will remain the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor." And that is His saying: "Everything will be destroyed, except His Face. To Him belongs the judgment, and to Him you will be returned."
17217 - ‘Abbad ibn ‘Uthman al-Marwazi narrated to us, Salamah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, Mansur ibn ‘Abd al-Hamid reported to us, from Muqatil in the interpretation of this verse of the saying of Allah: "Everything will be destroyed, except His Face," meaning living beings specifically, among the inhabitants of the heavens, the angels, those on the earth, and all living creatures. Then the heaven and the earth will be destroyed after that. The Paradise, the Fire, and what is within them, nor the Throne, nor the Footstool (Kursi), will be destroyed.
His saying, the Exalted: "To Him belongs the judgment, and to Him you will be returned."
