my father, from Yazid ibn Bakr al-Laythi, who said: Al-Qasim ibn Muhammad was asked about the saying of Allah: "And commit in your meetings the evil." What is that evil? He said: They used to pass wind in the gathering, some of them passing wind upon others. And the "nadi" (meeting) is the gathering.

The third interpretation:

17274 - Muhammad ibn Isma‘il al-Ahmasi narrated to us, Waki‘ reported to us, from Sufyan, from Mansur, from Mujahid, regarding "And commit in your meetings the evil," he said: They used to have sexual intercourse with men in their gatherings.

17275 - Al-Hasan ibn ‘Arafah narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Kathir reported to us, from ‘Amr ibn Qays (1), from al-Hakam, from Mujahid, regarding "And commit in your meetings the evil," he said: Whistling, pigeon playing, the use of the slingshot (2), and unbuttoning the collars of the garments.

His saying, the Exalted: "But the answer of his people was only that they said: 'Bring us the punishment of Allah'"... the verse.

17276 - ‘Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam reported to us, from Abu Ja‘far al-Razi, from al-Rabi‘ ibn Anas, from Abu al-‘Aliyah, meaning His saying: "If you are of the truthful" in what you say, that it is as you say.

17277 - And in it, His saying: "He said: 'My Lord, support me against the corrupting people.'" He said: Their corruption was that, in disobedience to Allah; for whoever disobeys Allah on earth or commands the disobedience of Allah has corrupted the earth.

His saying, the Exalted: "And when Our messengers came to Abraham with the good tidings."

17278 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-A‘la al-San‘ani reported to us, Muhammad ibn Thawr reported to us, from Ma‘mar, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "with the good tidings," he said: When they informed him that they were sent (3) to the people of Lot.

His saying, the Exalted: "Indeed, we are going to destroy the people of this town."

17279 - Muhammad ibn Sa‘d ibn ‘Atiyyah informed me in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my paternal uncle narrated to me, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "They said: 'Indeed, we are going to destroy the people of this town; indeed, its people have been wrongdoers,'" he said: So Abraham argued with the angels concerning the people of Lot, that they might be spared, and said:
