His saying, the Exalted: "...prostrate [within their homes]."
17303 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid reported to us, Yazid ibn Zuray‘ reported to us, he said: I heard Sa‘id [report] from Qatadah regarding His saying: "prostrate," meaning: dead. It was also narrated from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam the same as that.
His saying, the Exalted: "And ‘Ad and Thamud."

His saying, the Exalted: "And it has become clear to you from their dwellings."
17304 - My father narrated to us, al-Hakam ibn Hisham reported to us, al-Walid reported to us, Ibn ‘Ajlan reported to us, ‘Awn ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Utbah narrated to me that when Abu al-Darda’ saw the construction and planting of trees that the Muslims had brought about in the Ghutah... in their mosque, he called out: "O people of Damascus!" So they gathered to him, and he praised Allah and extolled Him, then he said: [The full account of the narration has been recorded more than once].
His saying, the Exalted: "And Satan made their deeds pleasing to them."
17305 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashajj informed us, Abu Usamah reported to us, from Shibl, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding "and they were insightful [in their deeds]," he said: [meaning] in misguidance.
17306 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid reported to us, Yazid ibn Zuray‘ reported to us, he said: I heard Sa‘id, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "and averted them from the path, and they were insightful," [meaning] they were insightful in their misguidance, feeling impressed by it.
17307 - Muhammad ibn Sa‘d ibn ‘Atiyyah informed me in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my uncle narrated to me, my father narrated to me, from my grandfather ‘Atiyyah, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "and they were insightful," he says: Insightful in their religion.
His saying, the Exalted: "And [We destroyed] Qarun."
17308 - Ahmad ibn Yahya ibn Malik al-Sunusi narrated to us, ‘Abd Allah al-Khaffaf reported to us, from Sa‘id, from Qatadah, he said: Qarun was the cousin of Musa, the brother of his father. He had crossed the sea with the Children of Israel, and he was called "the Luminous" (al-Munawwar) because of the beauty of his voice while reading the Torah. But the enemy of Allah turned to hypocrisy, just as the Samiri had turned to hypocrisy, so Allah destroyed him due to his aggression; he only acted aggressively against them due to the abundance of his wealth and his children. Allah said: "Did he not know that Allah had destroyed before him of generations..."
