17376 - My father narrated to us, Abu al-Darda' 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Munib narrated to us, Abu Mu'adh al-Nahwi narrated to us, from 'Ubayd ibn Sulayman, from al-Dahhak, regarding His saying: "And you did not recite before it any scripture," he said: "The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, did not read nor write, and likewise Allah established his description in the Torah and the Gospel that he is an unlettered prophet who does not read or write, and that is the distinct sign."
His saying, the Almighty: "In the breasts of those who have been given knowledge"
17377 - Muhyi ibn Sa'd informed us, in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my uncle narrated to me, my father narrated to me, from my grandfather 'Atiyyah, regarding: "Rather, it is distinct verses in the breasts of those who have been given knowledge," he said: "Allah, Blessed and Exalted, sent down the affair of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in the Torah and the Gospel for the people of knowledge and taught it to them, and He made it a sign for them. He said to him: That is, he emerges, when he emerges, not knowing a scripture, nor inscribing one with his right hand, and those are the distinct verses which Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, mentioned."
His saying, the Almighty: "And none rejects Our verses except the wrongdoers"
17378 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, Hammu ibn Nuh narrated to us, Mu'adh narrated to us, Abu Muslim narrated to us, from al-Dahhak, regarding His saying: "And none rejects Our verses except the wrongdoers," he said: "Meaning his description which He described to the People of the Scripture; they recognize him by that description."
His saying, the Almighty: "And they said, 'Why are signs not sent down to him from his Lord?'" - to the end of the verse.
17379 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Ibn Numayr narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us, from 'Amr ibn Murrah, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, came to (al-Safa) and climbed upon it, then he called out: 'O danger of the morning!' So the people gathered around him, between a man coming to him and a man sending his messenger. Then the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: 'O Banu 'Abd al-Muttalib, O Banu Fihr, O family of..., O family of... if I were to inform you that horses were in the valley of this mountain, wanting to raid you, would you believe me?' They said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Then I am a warner to you in the face of a severe punishment.'
The interpretation of 'warner' has been presented previously from Ibn 'Abbas more than once.
His saying, the Almighty: "Is it not sufficient for them that We have sent down to you the Book which is recited to them?"
