with stupidity or misguidance by desiring something other than what their Prophet brought, or a book other than their own Book. So Allah revealed: "Is it not sufficient for them that We have sent down to you the Book which is recited to them..." to the end of the verse.
17381 - Ja'far ibn Munir al-Mada'ini narrated to us, Rawh ibn 'Ubadah narrated to us, 'Umar ibn Sa'id ibn Abi Husayn narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Mulaykah narrated to me that Ibn 'Amir gave a gift to 'A'ishah, and she thought it was 'Abd Allah ibn 'Amr, so she said: "I have no need for the gift of one who follows the books." And she said: "Is it not sufficient for them that We have sent down to you the Book which is recited to them."
His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, in that is a mercy and a reminder for a people who believe."

His saying, the Almighty: "Say, 'Sufficient is Allah as a witness between me and you.'"
17382 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn al-Hasinjabi narrated to us, Abu al-Jamahir narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Bashir narrated to us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "Say, 'Sufficient is Allah as a witness between me and you.'" He said: "There were people from the People of the Scripture who would testify to the truth and recognize it."
His saying, the Almighty: "He knows what is in the heavens and the earth."
17383 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, Sa'id ibn Jubayr narrated to me, who said: Ibn 'Abbas said: "Allah created the Preserved Tablet as a distance of a hundred years' journey. He said to the Pen, before He created the creation, and He is upon the Throne, Blessed and Exalted: 'Write!' The Pen said: 'What shall I write?' He said: 'My knowledge of My creation until the Day the Hour is established.' So the Pen recorded what is to come, according to Allah's knowledge, until the Day of Resurrection. That is His saying, Blessed and Exalted, to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: 'He knows what is in the heavens and the earth.'"
His saying, the Almighty: "And those who believe in falsehood."
17384 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid narrated to us, Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, he said: I heard Sa'id, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "And those who believe in falsehood," he said: "In polytheism (shirk)."
His saying, the Almighty: "And disbelieve in Allah."
17385 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, Abu Ghassan narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding the saying of Allah: "In Allah," he said: "Meaning, in the Oneness of Allah (tawhid)."
بِقَوْمٍ حُمْقًا أَوْ ضَلالَةً أَنْ يَرْغَبُوا عَمَّا جَاءَ بِهِ نَبِيُّهُمْ أَوْ كِتَابٌ غَيْرُ كِتَابِهِمْ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ:
أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِهِمْ أَنَّا أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الكتاب يتلى عليهم ... الْآيَةَ
١٧٣٨١ - حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُنِيرٍ الْمَدَائِنِيُّ، ثنا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ، ثنا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ أَنَّ ابْنَ عَامِرٍ أَهْدَى إِلَى عَائِشَةَ فَظَنَّتْ أَنَّهِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، فَقَالَتْ: لَا حَاجَةَ لِي بِهَدِيَّةِ مَنْ تَبِعَ الْكُتُبَ، وَقَالَتْ أَوْلَمْ يَكْفِهِمْ أَنَّا أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ يتلى عليهم
قوله تعالى: إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَرَحْمَةً وَذِكْرَى لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ
تَقَدَّمَ تَفْسِيرُهُ.
قَوْلُه تَعَالَى: قُلْ كَفَى بِاللَّهِ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ شَهِيدًا
١٧٣٨٢ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الهسنجابي، ثنا أَبُو الْجُمَاهِرِ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: قُلْ كَفَى بِاللَّهِ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ شَهِيدًا قَدْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ قَوْمٌ يَشْهَدُونَ بِالْحَقِّ وَيَعْرِفُونَهُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي السماوات وَالأَرْضِ
١٧٣٨٣ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: خَلَقَ اللَّهُ اللَّوْحَ الْمَحْفُوظَ كَمَسِيرَةِ مِائَةِ عَامٍ، فَقَالَ لِلْقَلَمِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ الْخَلْقَ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى اكْتُبْ، فَقَالَ الْقَلَمُ: وَمَا أَكْتُبُ قَالَ: عِلْمِي فِي خَلْقِي إِلَى يوم تقوم الساعة، فجر الْقَلَمُ بِمَا هُوَ كَائِنٌ فِي عَلْمِ اللَّهِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ، فَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَعْلَمُ مَا في السماوات وَالأَرْضِ
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِالْبَاطِلِ
١٧٣٨٤ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ قَالَ:
سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدًا، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِالْبَاطِلِ قَالَ: بِالشِّرْكِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَكَفَرُوا بِاللَّهِ
١٧٣٨٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو غَسَّانَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: بِاللَّهِ يَعْنِي بِتَوْحِيدِ اللَّهِ.
