17393 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Sa'id ibn 'Atiyyah al-Khuza'i narrated to us, Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from Simak, from 'Ikrimah regarding "and indeed Hell is encompassing the disbelievers," he said: "The sea."

17394 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Umar ibn Isma'il ibn Mujalid narrated to us, my father narrated to us, from Mujalid, from al-Sha'bi that he heard Ibn 'Abbas saying: "'And indeed Hell is encompassing the disbelievers,' and Hell is this green sea. The stars spread within it, and the sun and the moon are in it. Then it is ignited, and it becomes Hell."

His saying, the Almighty: "On the Day the punishment will cover them from above them."

17395 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Hisham narrated to us, from Sufyan, from a man, from Abu al-'Aliyah regarding His saying: "On the Day the punishment will cover them from above them," he said: "The stoning;" and from beneath their feet, he said: "The swallowing up by the earth."

His saying, the Almighty: "And He will say: 'Taste what you used to do.'"

17396 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid narrated to us, Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, he said: I heard Sa'id, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "On the Day the punishment will cover them from above them and from beneath their feet, and He will say: 'Taste what you used to do,'" meaning in the Fire.

His saying, the Almighty: "O My servants who have believed, indeed My earth is spacious, so worship only Me."

17397 - Al-Hasan ibn 'Arafah narrated to us, 'Ammar ibn Muhammad narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Rabi' ibn Abi Rashid, from Sa'id regarding the saying of Allah: "O My servants who have believed, indeed My earth is spacious, so worship only Me," he said: "When sins are committed in the land, then depart from it."

17398 - My father narrated to us, Ibn al-Asbahani narrated to us, Sharik narrated to us, from Mansur, from 'Ata' regarding His saying: "O My servants who have believed, indeed My earth is spacious," he said: "When you are called to sin, then flee." Then he recited: "Was not the earth of Allah spacious [enough] for you to emigrate therein?"
