15814 - Abu 'Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Hammad al-Tahrani informed us in what he wrote to me, [saying]: 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, [saying]: Ma'mar informed us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: 'And you take to yourselves palaces (masani')', he said: They are taken for water.
His saying: 'That you may live forever'
15815 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Abu Salih narrated to us, [saying]: Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn Abbas regarding 'that you may live forever', he says: As if you would live forever.
15816 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, [saying]: Al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, [saying]: Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, [saying]: Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: 'And you take to yourselves palaces, that you may live forever', he said: And it was in some readings: 'And you take to yourselves palaces as if you were immortal.'
His saying: 'Live forever'
15817 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, [saying]: Asbagh ibn Zayd informed us, [who] said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding the saying of Allah: 'And you take to yourselves palaces, that you may live forever', he said: This is a conditional [expression], he says: You might live forever when you take these things.
15818 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, [saying]: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us, [saying]: Salamah narrated to us, [saying]: Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to me, [who] said: When they became arrogant toward Allah, denied their Prophet, caused much mischief in the land, were tyrants, and built on every high ground a sign for amusement and without benefit, Hud spoke to them, saying: 'Do you build on every high ground a sign, that you may amuse yourselves? And you take to yourselves palaces, that you may live forever?'
His saying, the Exalted: 'And when you strike, you strike as tyrants'
15819 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying]: Minjab narrated to us, [saying]: Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: 'And when you strike, you strike as tyrants', he said: Powerful.
15820 - Abu Bujayr Muhammad ibn Jabir al-Haribi narrated to us, [saying]: Al-Hasan ibn Qutaybah al-Mada'ini informed us, from Sufyan, from Ibrahim ibn Muhajir, from Mujahid regarding: 'And when you strike, you strike as tyrants', he said: Striking with whips.
15821 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: 'Isa ibn Ja'far narrated to us, [saying]: Muslim ibn Khalid narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding the saying of Allah: 'And when you strike, you strike as tyrants', he said: With the sword and the whip.
١٥٨١٤ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ الطِّهْرَانِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ أَنْبَأَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَنْبَأَ مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: تتخذون مَصَانِعَ قَالَ: تُأْخَذُ لِلْمَاءِ.
قَوْلُهُ: لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ
١٥٨١٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ يَقُولُ: كَأَنَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ.
١٥٨١٦ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ قَالَ: وَكَانَ فِي بَعْضِ الْقِرَاءَاتِ وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ كَأَنَّكُمْ خَالِدُونَ
قَوْلُهُ: تَخْلُدُونَ
١٥٨١٧ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ أنبأ أَصْبَغُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ قَالَ:
سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ فِي قَوْلِ الله: تتخذون مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ قَالَ: هَذِهِ اسْتِثْنَاءٌ يَقُولُ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ حِينَ تَتَّخِذُونَ هَذِهِ الأَشْيَاءَ.
١٥٨١٨ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، ثنا سَلَمَةُ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ: فَلَمَّا عَتَوْا عَلَى اللَّهِ وَكَذَّبُوا نَبِيَّهُمْ وَأَكْثَرُوا فِي الأَرْضِ تَجَبَّرُوا وَبَنَوْا بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ آيَةً عَبَثًا لِغَيْرِ نَفْعٍ كَلَّمَهُمْ هُودٌ فَقَالَ: أَتَبْنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ آيَةً تَعْبَثُونَ وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُمْ بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ
١٥٨١٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا مِنْجَابٌ أَنْبَأَ بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُمْ بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ قَالَ: أَقْوِيَاءَ
١٥٨٢٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بُجَيْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَابِرٍ الْحَارِبِيُّ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ الْمَدَائِنِيُّ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُهَاجِرٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُمْ بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ قَالَ:
ضَرْبُ السِّيَاطِ
١٥٨٢١ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ فِي قَوْلِ الله: إذا بطشتم بطشتم جبارين قال: بالسيف السوط.
