17557 - From Mujahid (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "And has bestowed upon you His blessings," he said: "La ilaha illa Allah." "Apparent," he said: Upon the tongue, "and hidden," he said: In the heart (8).

17558 - From Muqatil (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "His blessings [both] apparent," he said: Islam, "and hidden," he said: His covering of your sins (9).

17559 - From Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Jewish rabbis said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in Medina: "O Muhammad, what do you think of your saying: 'And you have not been given of knowledge except a little'? Do you mean us or your people?" He replied: "It is little in the knowledge of Allah." Then Allah revealed regarding that: "And if whatever tree upon the earth were pens" (1).
