15990 - It was mentioned from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Bishr ibn al-Hakam, [who said]: Musa ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz narrated to us, [who] said: I asked al-Hakam ibn Aban [and] said to him [regarding] His saying: 'Likewise We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the criminals,' [and] he said: 'Ikrimah narrated to me [and] said: Hardness.
His saying (the Exalted): 'Into the hearts of the criminals'
15991 - Yahya ibn 'Abdaka narrated to us, [saying]: Khalid ibn 'Abd al-Rahman al-Makhzumi narrated to us, [saying]: Sufyan narrated to us, from Humayd al-Tawil, from Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) [regarding] His saying: 'Into the hearts of the criminals,' [who] said: He caused it to enter into the hearts of the polytheists.
15992 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying]: Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, [saying]: Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas: 'The criminals' [are] the disbelievers.
His saying (the Exalted): 'They would not be believers in it'
15993 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-A'la narrated to us, [saying]: Muhammad ibn Thawr narrated to us, from Ma'mar, from Qatadah [regarding] 'They would not be believers in it,' [who] said: When they denied, Allah caused into their hearts [the condition] that they would not believe in it.
15994 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, [saying]: al-Husayn ibn 'Ali narrated to us, [saying]: 'Amir ibn al-Furat informed us, [saying]: Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi [regarding] 'They would not be believers in it,' [who] says: They would not believe in that which Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) brought.
15995 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, [saying]: Asbagh informed us, [who] said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd regarding the saying of Allah (the Exalted): 'We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the criminals. They would not be believers in it,' [who] said: It is as He said: He led them astray and prevented them from belief.
His saying (the Exalted): 'Then they will say: Are we to be respited? Do they seek to hasten Our punishment?'
15996 - al-Hasan ibn 'Arafah narrated to us, [saying]: 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr al-Sahmi narrated to us, [saying]: Humayd al-Tawil narrated to us, from Thabit al-Bunani, from Anas ibn Malik, that the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) visited a man from among the Muslims who had become like a young bird [frail], so he said: 'Were you supplicating to Allah for something or asking Him for it?' He said: 'I used to say: O Allah, whatever punishment You are going to inflict upon me in the Hereafter, hasten it for me in the world.' He said: 'Exalted is Allah! You cannot bear it—or you would not be able to endure it. Why did you not say: O Allah, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire?' Then he supplicated to Allah for him, and he was healed.
