17566 - From Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "Indeed, Allah [alone] has knowledge of the Hour," he said: There are five matters of the Unseen which Allah has reserved for Himself, and He has not disclosed them to any close angel nor any sent prophet. "Indeed, Allah [alone] has knowledge of the Hour," so no person knows when the Hour will come, in which year, or in which month, by night or by day. "And He sends down the rain," so no one knows when the rain will descend, by night or by day. "And He knows what is in the wombs," so no one knows what is in the wombs, whether male or female, red or black. "And no soul knows what it will earn tomorrow," whether good or evil. "And no soul knows in what land it will die," no one among the people knows where his place of rest will be on the earth, whether in the sea or on land, in a plain or on a mountain (1).

17567 - From Ibn Umar who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "The keys of the Unseen are five; none knows them except Allah. None knows what is in tomorrow except Allah, nor when the Hour will come except Allah, nor what is in the wombs except Allah, nor when the rain will descend except Allah, and no soul knows in what land it will die except Allah" (2).

17568 - From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man said: "O Messenger of Allah, when is the Hour?" He replied: "The one questioned about it is no more knowledgeable than the questioner. But I will tell you of its signs: when a slave woman gives birth to her mistress, that is one of its signs; and when the barefoot, naked ones become the leaders of the people, that is one of its signs; and when the shepherds of sheep compete in the construction of buildings, that is one of its signs. It is among five matters of the Unseen that none knows except Allah." Then he recited: "Indeed, Allah [alone] has knowledge of the Hour, and sends down the rain..." to the end of the verse (3).

17569 - From Abu Ghurrah al-Hudhali (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "When Allah desires the taking of a servant's soul in a certain land, He creates a need for him to go to it, and he does not stop until he reaches it." Then the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) read: "And no soul knows in what land it will die" (4).
