[His saying: Alif-Lam-Mim. The revelation]
17818 - From Tawus (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: There is no man on earth who reads 'Alif-Lam-Mim. The revelation of the Scripture' (as-Sajdah) and 'Blessed is He in whose hand is dominion' (al-Mulk) in a single night but that Allah writes for him the equivalent of the reward of the Night of Decree. Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I mentioned that to Ata (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said: Tawus spoke the truth. By Allah, I have not abandoned them since I heard of them, unless I was ill (1).
His saying: He arranges [each] matter from the heaven to the earth
17819 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: 'He arranges [each] matter,' he said: The matter descends from the heaven to the earth and ascends from the earth to the heaven in one day, the measure of which is a thousand years—five hundred [years] in travel when it descends, and five hundred [years] when it ascends (2).
His saying: Then it ascends to Him in a day, the measure of which is a thousand years
17820 - From Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying: 'He arranges [each] matter from the heaven to the earth. Then it ascends to Him in a day, the measure of which is a thousand years,' he said: It is [one] of the six days in which Allah created the heavens and the earth (3).
17821 - From as-Suddi (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: 'He arranges [each] matter...' [to the end of] the verse, he said: The matter descends from the lowest heaven to the earth. Then it ascends to Him in a time that, if people were to travel it going and coming, they would have traveled for a thousand years (4).
17822 - From Abdullah ibn Abi Mulaykah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: I entered upon Ibn Abbas, along with Abdullah ibn Fayruz, the freed slave of Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him). Fayruz said: O Abu Abbas, [what of] His saying: 'He arranges [each] matter from the heaven to the earth. Then it ascends to Him in a day, the measure of which is a thousand years?' It seemed as if Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) suspected him, so he said: What [about the] day

[قوله تعالى: الم، تنزيل]
١٧٨١٨ - عن طاوس رضي الله عنه قال: ما على الأرض رجل يقرأ الم، تَنْزِيلُ السجدة وتَبَارَكَ الَّذِي بِيَدِهِ الْمُلْكُ في ليلة إلا كتب الله له مثل أجر ليلة القدر قال حاتم رضي الله عنه: فذكرت ذلك لعطاء رضي الله عنه فقال: صدق طاوس والله ما تركتهن منذ سمعت بهن إلا أن أكون مريضًا «١» .
قوله تعالى: يُدَبِّرُ الأَمْرَ من السماء إلى الأرض
١٧٨١٩ - عن قتادة في قوله: يدبر الأمر قال: ينحدر الأمر مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الأَرْضِ ويصعد من الأرض إلى السماء في يوم واحد مقداره ألف سنة، في السير خمسمائة حين ينزل، وخمسمائة حين يعرج «٢» .
قولة تعالى: ثُمَّ يَعْرُجُ إِلَيْهِ في يوم كان مقداره أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ
١٧٨٢٠ - عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عنهما في قوله: يُدَبِّرُ الأَمْرَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الأَرْضِ. ثُمَّ يَعْرُجُ إِلَيْهِ فِي يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُ ألف سنة قَالَ: مِنَ الأيام الستة التي خلق الله فيها السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ «٣» .
١٧٨٢١ - عَنِ السُّدِّىِّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فِي قَوْلِهِ: يدبر الأمر الآية. قال: ينزل الأمر من السماء الدنيا إلى الأرض العليا. ثم يعرج إلي مقدار يوم لو ساره الناس ذاهبين وجائين لساروا ألف سنة «٤» .
١٧٨٢٢ - عن عبد الله بن أبي مليكة رضي الله تعالى عنه قال: دخلت على ابن عباس أنا وعبد الله بن فيروز مولى عثمان بن عفان رضي الله تعالى عنه، قال فيروز:
يا أبا عباس، قوله: يُدَبِّرُ الأَمْرَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الأَرْضِ ثُمَّ يَعْرُجُ إِلَيْهِ في يوم كان مقداره ألف سنة فكأن ابن عباس رضي الله تعالى عنهما اتهمه، فقال: ما يوم
