His saying (the Exalted): "A reminder, and We were not unjust."
16002 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying]: Ibrahim ibn Musa narrated to us, [saying]: Ibn Abi Za'idah informed us, from Ibn Jurayj, from Mujahid, [regarding] "...but that it had warners, a reminder." He said: The reminder refers to the messengers.
16003 - Musa ibn Harun al-Tusi informed us in what he wrote to me, [saying]: al-Husayn ibn Muhammad al-Marrudhi narrated to us, [saying]: Shayban informed us, from Qatadah [regarding] His saying: "And We did not destroy any city but that it had warners. A reminder, and We were not unjust," [who] said: We would not punish them except after the clear proof, the argument, and the excuse, until the messengers were sent and the scriptures revealed as a reminder.
His saying (the Exalted): "And the devils have not brought it down."
16004 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, [saying]: al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid al-Narsi informed us, [saying]: Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, [saying]: Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah [regarding] His saying: "And the devils have not brought it down," [meaning] with the Book of Allah.
His saying (the Exalted): "And it is not suitable for them."
16005 - Musa ibn Harun al-Tusi informed us in what he wrote to me, [saying]: al-Husayn ibn Muhammad al-Marrudhi informed us, [saying]: Shayban ibn 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Qatadah [regarding] His saying: "And it is not suitable for them that they should descend with it," meaning with the Book of Allah.
His saying (the Exalted): "And they are not able."
16006 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, [saying]: al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, [saying]: Yazid narrated to us, [saying]: Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah [regarding] His saying: "And they are not able," [who] says: They do not have the power for that, and they are not able to do it.
His saying (the Exalted): "Indeed, they are from hearing it removed."
16007 - And by the same chain, from Qatadah, [regarding] "Indeed, they are from hearing it removed," [who] says: From hearing the heaven.
16008 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, [saying]: al-Husayn ibn 'Ali narrated to us, [saying]: 'Amir narrated to us, [saying]: Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, [regarding] His saying: "Indeed, they are from hearing it removed," [who] said: From the Qur'an.
16009 - It was read to Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la, [and] Ibn Wahb informed us, [who] said: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam said: They claimed that the devils brought it down to Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), so Allah (the Almighty and Exalted) informed them that they do not have the power to do that, and they are not able to, and it is not suitable for them to...
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: ذِكْرَى وَمَا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ
١٦٠٠٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى أَنْبَأَ ابْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ إِلا لَهَا مُنْذِرُونَ، ذِكْرَى قَالَ: الذِّكْرَى: الرُّسُلُ.
١٦٠٠٣ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ الطُّوسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَرُّوذِيُّ أَنْبَأَ شَيْبَانُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: وَمَا أَهْلَكْنَا مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ إِلا لَهَا مُنْذِرُونَ. ذِكْرَى وَمَا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ قَالَ: مَا كُنَّا لِنُعَذِّبَهُمْ إِلا بَعْدَ الْبَيِّنَةِ وَالْحُجَّةِ وَالْعُذْرِ، حَتَّى يُرْسَلَ الرُّسُلُ، وَنُنَزِّلَ الْكُتُبَ تَذْكِرَةً.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ الشَّيَاطِينُ
١٦٠٠٤ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ الشَّيَاطِينُ بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ.

١٦٠٠٦ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ يَقُولُ: لَا يَقْدِرُونَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ وَلا يَسْتَطِيعُونَهُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُونَ
١٦٠٠٧ - وَبِهِ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُونَ يَقُولُ: عَنْ سَمْعِ السَّمَاءِ.
١٦٠٠٨ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ثنا عَامِرٌ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَوْلُهُ: إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُونَ قَالَ: عَنِ الْقُرْآنِ.
١٦٠٠٩ - قُرِئَ عَلَى يُونُسَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، أَنْبَأَ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ: قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ابن زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ: زَعَمُوا أَنَّ الشَّيَاطِينَ تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- فَأَخْبَرَهُمُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: أَنَّهُ لَا تَقْدِرُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ وَلا تَسْتَطِيعُهُ، وَمَا يَنْبَغِي لَهُمْ أن
