17612 - From Qatadah, he said: The hypocrites said on the day of the Confederates (al-Ahzab), when they saw that the Confederates had surrounded them from every side, and they were in doubt and suspicion concerning the affair of Allah: 'Muhammad used to promise us the conquest of Persia and Rome, yet we are besieged here such that not one of us can even go out to relieve himself.' So Allah revealed: 'And when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is a disease say, "Allah and His Messenger did not promise us anything but delusion."' (1)
[His saying, the Exalted: 'And when a party of them said']
17613 - From Mujahid (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: 'And when a party of them said,' he said: 'From the hypocrites.' (2)
His saying, the Exalted: 'There is no place for you (to stay)'
From Harun ibn Musa, he said: I ordered a man to ask al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding 'la muqama lakum' or 'la maqama lakum,' and he said: 'Both refer to residence/staying.' (3)
17614 - From Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: 'There is no place for you (to stay),' he said: 'There is no place for you to fight here, so flee and leave this man.' (4)
17615 - From al-Bara' ibn 'Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever calls Medina "Yathrib," let him seek Allah's forgiveness. It is Tabah, it is Tabah, it is Tabah.' (5)
His saying, the Exalted: 'Indeed our houses are exposed'
17616 - From Mujahid (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: 'Indeed our houses are exposed,' (meaning:) we fear theft for them. (6)
His saying, the Exalted: 'And if they were entered upon them from its sides, then they were asked for the sedition, they would surely have committed it'
17617 - From al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: 'And if they were entered upon them from its sides,' he said: 'From its surrounding areas,' (and regarding) 'then they were asked for the sedition, they would surely have committed it,' he said: 'If they were invited to polytheism, they would have answered.' (7)
17618 - From Mujahid (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: 'And if they were entered upon them from its sides,' he said: 'From its borders,' 'then they were asked for the sedition,' meaning: polytheism. (8)

١٧٦١٢ - عن قتادة قال: قال المنافقون يوم الأحزاب حين رأوا الأحزاب قد اكتنفوهم من كل جانب فكانوا في شك وريبة من أمر الله قالوا: إن محمدًا كان يعدنا فتح فارس والروم وقد حصرنا هاهنا حتى ما يستطيع يبرز أحدنا لحاجته، فأنزل الله: وَإِذْ يَقُولُ الْمُنَافِقُونَ وَالَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ مَرَضٌ مَا وَعَدَنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ إِلا غُرُورًا «١» .
[قوله تعالى: وإذ قالت طائفة منهم]
١٧٦١٣ - عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وإذ قالت طائفة منهم قال:
من المنافقين «٢» .
قوله تعالى: لا مُقَامَ لكم
عن هارون بن موسى قال: أمرت رجلًا فسأل الحسن رضي الله عنه لا مُقَامَ لكم أو لا مقام لكم قال: كلتاهما الإقامة «٣» .
١٧٦١٤ - عَنْ قَتَادَة رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فِي قَوْلِهِ: لا مقام لكم قال: لا مقاتل لكم هاهنا، ففروا ودعوا هذا الرجل «٤» .
١٧٦١٥ - عن البراء بن عازب رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسلم: «من سمي المدينة يثرب فليستغفر الله، هي طابة هي طابة، هي طابة» «٥» .
قوله تعالى: إِنَّ بُيُوتَنَا عورة
١٧٦١٦ - عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فِي قَوْلِهِ: إن بيوتنا عورة نخاف عليها السرقة «٦» .
قوله تعالى: وَلَوْ دُخِلَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ أَقْطَارِهَا ثُمَّ سُئِلُوا الْفِتْنَةَ لآتَوْهَا
١٧٦١٧ - عَنِ الحَسَنِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فِي قَوْلِهِ: ولو دخلت عليهم من أقطارها قال: من نواحيها ثُمَّ سُئِلُوا الْفِتْنَةَ لآتَوْهَا قال: لو دعوا إلى الشرك لأجابوا «٧» .
١٧٦١٨ - عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فِي قَوْلِهِ ولو دخلت عليهم من أقطارها قال: من أطرافها ثم سئلوا الفتنة يعني الشرك «٨» .
