His saying, the Almighty: "O Prophet, indeed We have sent you as a witness, and a bringer of good tidings, and a warner."
17711 - From Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) who said: When "O Prophet, indeed We have sent you as a witness, and a bringer of good tidings, and a warner" was revealed, and he had already commanded Ali and Mu'adh to set out for Yemen, he said: "Go forth, give good tidings and do not repel, make things easy and do not make them difficult, for it has been revealed to me: 'O Prophet, indeed We have sent you as a witness, and a bringer of good tidings, and a warner.'" He said: "A witness, and a bringer of good tidings of Paradise, and a warner against the Fire, and a caller to the testimony that there is no god but Allah by His permission, and a radiant lamp" [meaning] through the Quran (1).
17712 - From Ata' ibn Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: I met Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As and said: Inform me of the description of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) in the Torah. He said: Yes, by Allah, he is described in the Torah with some of his descriptions in the Quran: "O Prophet, indeed We have sent you as a witness, and a bringer of good tidings, and a warner, and a refuge for the unlettered. You are My servant and My Messenger; I have named you al-Mutawakkil (the Trusting). He is neither coarse, nor harsh, nor clamorous in the marketplaces, and he does not repel evil with evil, but pardons and forgives" (2).
17713 - From Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "O Prophet, indeed We have sent you as a witness," he said: Over your nation regarding the delivery of the message, "and a bringer of good tidings" of Paradise, "and a warner" against the Fire, "and a caller to Allah" to the testimony that there is no god but Allah, "by His permission" he said: by His command, "and a radiant lamp" he said: the Book of Allah, he calls them to it. "And give good tidings to the believers that they will have from Allah a great bounty," which is Paradise. "And do not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites and leave their annoyance," he said: Be patient with their annoyance (3).
17714 - And Wahb ibn Munabbih said: Indeed, Allah revealed to a prophet from the prophets of the Children of Israel: "I am setting your tongue to speak with revelation; I shall send an unlettered man from among the unlettered. I will send him; he is neither coarse, nor harsh, nor clamorous in the marketplaces. If he passes by a lamp, he would not extinguish it due to his tranquility, and if he walks on reeds, one would not hear [the sound] from beneath his feet. I will send him as a bringer of good tidings and a warner. He does not speak obscenity. Through him, I will open blind eyes, deaf ears, and sealed hearts. I will guide him to every beautiful affair, grant him every noble character, make tranquility his garment, righteousness his inner habit, piety his conscience, wisdom his speech, truthfulness and loyalty his nature, pardon and kindness his character, the Truth his law, justice his conduct, guidance his leader, and Islam his path. His name is Ahmad. Through him, I will guide after misguidance, teach after ignorance, and raise [ranks] after obscurity."

قوله تعالى: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ شَاهِدًا وَمُبَشِّرًا ونذيرا
١٧٧١١ - عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ، عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ شَاهِدًا وَمُبَشِّرًا وَنَذِيرًا وَقَدْ كَانَ أَمَرَ عَلِيًّا ومعاذ أَنْ يَسِيرَا إِلَى الْيَمَنِ، فَقَالَ:
انْطَلِقَا فَبَشِّرَا ولا تنفرا ويسرا ولا تعسرا فإنه قَدْ أُنْزِلَ عَلَيَّ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ شَاهِدًا ومبشرا ونذيرا قال: شاهدًا ومبشرًا بالجنة ونذيرًا من النار، وداعيًا إلى شهادة لا إله إلا الله: بإذنه وسراجا منيرا بالقرآن «١» .
١٧٧١٢ - عن عطاء بن يسار رضي الله، عنه قال: لقيت عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص فقلت: أخبرني، عن صفة رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي التوراة قال:
أجل والله إنه لموصوف في التوراة ببعض صفته في القرآن يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ شَاهِدًا وَمُبَشِّرًا ونذيرا وحرزًا للأميين، أنت عبدي ورسولي سميتك المتوكل لَيْسَ بِفَظٍّ وَلا غَلِيظٍ وَلا صَخَّابٍ فِي الأسواق ولا تجزئ بالسيئة، السيئة ولكن تعفو وتصفح «٢» .
١٧٧١٣ - عَنْ قَتَادَة رَضِيَ اللهُ، عَنْهُ فِي قَوْلِهِ: يا أيها النبي إنا أرسلناك شاهدا قال: على أمتك بالبلاغ ومبشرًا بالجنة ونذيرًا من النار وداعيًا إلى الله إلى شهادة أن لا إله إلا الله: بإذنه قال: بأمره وسراجا منيرا قال: كتاب الله يدعوهم إليه وَبَشِّرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ بِأَنَّ لَهُمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ فَضْلا كبيرا وهي الجنة وَلا تُطِعِ الْكَافِرِينَ وَالْمُنَافِقِينَ وَدَعْ أذاهم قال: اصبر على أذاهم «٣» .
١٧٧١٤ - وقال وهب بن منبه: إن الله أَوْحَى إِلَى نَبِيٍّ مِنْ أَنْبِيَاءِ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ- فإني منطق لسانك بوحي وأبعث أميا من الأميين، أَبْعَثُهُ لَيْسَ بِفَظٍّ وَلا غَلِيظٍ وَلا صَخَّابٍ فِي الأسواق لو يمر إلى جنب سراج لَمْ يُطْفِئْهُ مِنْ سَكِينَتِهِ، وَلَوْ يَمْشِي عَلَى القصب لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مَنْ تَحْتِ قَدَمَيْهِ أَبْعَثُهُ مُبَشِّرًا ونذيرًا لا يقول الخنا، فاتح به أعينا كمها وَآذَانًا صُمًّا وَقُلُوبًا غُلْفًا، أُسَدِّدُهُ لِكُلِّ أَمْرٍ جَمِيلٍ وَأَهَبُ لَهُ كُلَّ خُلُقٍ كَرِيمٍ وَأَجْعَلُ السَّكِينَةَ لِبَاسَهُ وَالْبِرَّ شِعَارَهُ وَالتَّقْوَى ضُمَيرَهُ وَالْحِكْمَةَ مَنْطِقَهُ وَالصِّدْقَ وَالْوَفَاءَ طَبِيعَتَهُ وَالْعَفْوَ وَالْمَعْرُوفَ خُلُقَهُ، وَالْحَقَّ شَرِيعَتَهُ وَالْعَدْلَ سِيرَتَهُ وَالْهُدَى إِمَامَهُ وَالإِسْلامَ مِلَّتَهُ وَأَحْمَدُ اسْمَهُ أَهْدِي بِهِ بَعْدَ الضَّلالَةِ وَأُعَلِّمُ بِهِ بَعْدَ الْجَهَالَةِ، وَأَرْفَعُ بِهِ بَعْدَ الخمالة
