His saying: 'So fear Allah and obey me.'
His saying: 'And fear the One who has provided you with that which you know. He has provided you with livestock and children.'
15822 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying]: 'Amr ibn Hammad narrated to us, [saying]: Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding 'livestock', he said: The pasturing [animals].
His saying: 'Gardens and springs.'
15823 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, [saying]: Shababah narrated to us, [saying]: Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: 'gardens', he said: Enclosed orchards.
15824 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi informed me in what he wrote to me, [saying]: Ahmad ibn al-Mufaddal narrated to us, [saying]: Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding 'gardens', he said: Orchards.
His saying: 'Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a Great Day.'
And the 'punishment' (al-'adhab) is the chastisement (al-nakal), its mention has already passed.
15825 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying]: Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us, [saying]: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, [saying]: 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding 'Great', [meaning]: abundant.
His saying: 'They said: "It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not of the admonishers."'
15826 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, [saying]: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us, [saying]: Salamah narrated to us, [saying]: Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to me, [who] said: Allah sent Hud to them—meaning to 'Ad—and commanded them to worship Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, alone and not to associate any deity with Him, and to refrain from oppressing people. He did not command them—in what is reported, and Allah knows best—other than that. They refused him, denied [him], and said: "Who is stronger than us in power?" A group of them followed him, and they were few, concealing their faith. Among those who believed in him and affirmed him was a man from 'Ad called Yazid ibn Sa'd ibn Ghufayr, and he was concealing his faith. When they became arrogant toward Allah, denied their Prophet, and caused much corruption in the land, they said: "O Hud, you have not brought us a clear proof, and we are not going to leave our gods because of your word, and we will not believe in you."
قَوْلُهُ: فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
قَوْلُهُ: واتَّقُوا الَّذِي أَمَدَّكُمْ بِمَا تَعْلَمُونَ أَمَدَّكُمْ بأَنََْعَامٍ وبنين
١٥٨٢٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ أَنْعَامٍ قَالَ: الرَّاعِيَةُ.
قَوْلُهُ: جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
١٥٨٢٣ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، ثنا شَبَابَةُ، ثنا وَرْقَاءُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَوْلُهُ: جَنَّاتٍ قَالَ: حَوَائِطُ.
١٥٨٢٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ الأَوْدِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ جَنَّاتٍ قَالَ: الْبَسَاتِينُ.
قَوْلُهُ: إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
وَالْعَذَابُ النَّكَالُ قَدْ مَرَّ ذِكْرُهُ.
١٥٨٢٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءٌ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَظِيمٍ يَعْنِي وَافِرًا.
قَوْلُهُ: قَالُوا سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْنَا أَوَعَظْتَ أَمْ لَمْ تَكُنْ مِنَ الْوَاعِظِينَ
١٥٨٢٦ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، ثنا سَلَمَةُ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ: بَعَثَ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِمْ هُودًا يَعْنِي إِلَى عَادٍ فَأَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يُوَحِّدُوا اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، وَلا يَجْعَلُوا مَعَهُ إِلَهًا غَيْرَهُ، وَأَنْ يَكُفُّوا، عَنْ ظُلْمِ النَّاسِ لَمْ يَأْمُرْهُمْ فِيمَا يُذْكَرُ وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ فَأَبَوْا عَلَيْهِ وَكَذَّبُوا وَقَالُوا مَنْ أَشَدِّ مِنَّا قُوَّةً وَاتَّبَعَهُ مِنْهُمْ إِنَاسٌ وَهُمْ يَسِيرٌ مُكْتَتِمُونَ بِإِيمَانِهِمْ وكان من آمَنَ بِهِ وَصَدَّقَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ عَادٍ يُقَالُ له يزيد بن سعد ابن غُفَيْرٍ وَكَانَ يَكْتُمُ إِيمَانَهُ فَلَمَّا عَتَوْا عَلَى اللَّهِ وَكَذَّبُوا نَبِيَّهُمْ وَأَكْثَرُوا فِي الأَرْضِ الْفَسَادَ قَالُوا يَا هُودُ: مَا جِئْتَنَا بِبَيِّنَةٍ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِتَارِكِي آلِهَتِنَا، عَنْ قَوْلِكَ وَمَا نَحْنُ لك بمؤمنين.
