righteous deeds." [You are they], and remember Allah much. [You are they], and defend themselves after they have been wronged. [You are they]. Abu Muhammad said: A man has been dropped from the chain of narration; it is only narrated by Ibn Ishaq, from Yazid ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Qusayt, from Abu al-Hasan al-Barrad.

16078 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us: Shababah narrated to us: Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "And defend themselves after they have been wronged," he said: "'Abd Allah ibn Rawahah and his companions."

16079 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us: al-Husayn ibn 'Ali narrated to us: 'Amir ibn al-Furat narrated to us: Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding: "And defend themselves after they have been wronged," he said: "It was revealed concerning 'Abd Allah ibn Rawahah the poet and the poets of the Ansar."

16080 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us: al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us: Yazid narrated to us: Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "And defend themselves after they have been wronged," he said: "It is in some of the readings: 'And they defend themselves with the like of what they were wronged with.' It was revealed concerning a group of the Ansar who used to trade lampoons on behalf of the Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him), among them Ka'b ibn Malik and 'Abd Allah ibn Rawahah."

His saying the Almighty: "And those who have done wrong will soon know to what [kind of] return they will return."

16081 - My father narrated to us: 'Ali ibn Muhammad al-Tanafisi narrated to us: Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from 'Asim al-Ahwal, from 'Abd Allah ibn Rabah, from Safwan ibn Muhriz, that when he would read this verse, he would weep until I would say that his ribcage had cracked: "And those who have done wrong will soon know to what [kind of] return they will return."

16082 - My father narrated to us: Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Dawraqi narrated to us: Abu Dawud narrated to us: Iyas ibn Abi Tamimah said: I was present with al-Hasan, and a funeral of a Christian passed by him, so al-Hasan said: "And those who have done wrong will soon know to what [kind of] return they will return."

16083 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us: al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us: Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us: Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "And those who have done wrong will soon know to what [kind of] return they will return," he said: "'And those who have done wrong'—from the poets and others—'will soon know to what [kind of] return they will return.'"

16084 - It was mentioned from Zakariya ibn Yahya al-Wasiti: al-Haytham ibn Mahfuz Abu Sa'id al-Nahdi narrated to me: Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Mujabbir narrated to us: Hisham ibn 'Urwah narrated to us, from his father, from 'Aishah, who said: My father wrote a will of two lines: "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. This is what was bequeathed by..."
