he proceeded. He brought out his fire-striker to strike a fire with it for his family, so that they might spend the night by it until he could reach the direction of his path. His fire-striker became unyielding to him, so it did not produce fire for him. He struck it repeatedly until, when it exhausted him, the fire appeared to him and he saw it. He said to his family: "Remain here; indeed, I have perceived a fire."
His saying, the Almighty: "I will bring you a piece of information from it."
16118 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, who said: 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abbas said: When Moses had completed the term and was traveling with his family, he lost his way. It was winter, and a fire was raised up for him. When he saw it, he thought it was a fire, though it was from the light of Allah. He said to his family: "Remain here; indeed, I have perceived a fire. I will bring you a piece of information from it, or I will bring you a burning brand [qabas]." If I do not find information, I will bring you a glowing fire [shihab qabas]."
His saying, the Almighty: "Or I will bring you a burning brand [shihab qabas]."
16119 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq regarding "a burning brand [shihab qabas]," he said: A brand [qabas] for you to warm yourselves with.
His saying, the Almighty: "That you may warm yourselves."
16120 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding "that you may warm yourselves," he said: From the cold.

His saying, the Almighty: "And when he came to it, he was called."
16122 - Abu 'Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Hammad al-Tahrani informed us in what he wrote to me, Isma'il ibn 'Abd al-Karim informed us, from 'Abd al-Samad ibn Ma'qil, who said: I heard Wahb saying: When Moses saw the fire, he set out walking until he stood near it.
