Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And whoever is around it," he said: "The angels." Similar to this was narrated from 'Ikrimah, al-Hasan, Sa'id ibn Jubayr, and Qatadah.
THE SECOND ASPECT:
16137 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn al-Hisinjani narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Abi Maryam narrated to us, Mufaddal ibn Fada'lah informed us, Abu Sakhr narrated to me: "That blessed is whoever is in the fire and whoever is around it," he said: "It was the light of Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He), and He is the One who was in that light. Indeed, that light was from Him, and Moses was around it."
His saying (Exalted is He): "And Glory be to Allah, Lord of the worlds."
16138 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi: "That blessed is whoever is in the fire and whoever is around it." When Moses heard the call, he was startled and said: "Glory be to Allah, Lord of the worlds." He was called: "O Moses! Verily, I am Allah, the Lord of the worlds."
His saying (Exalted is He): "O Moses! Verily, it is I, Allah, the Almighty, the All-Wise."
16139 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Abi Hammad narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Abu Sinan, from Abu Bakr al-Thaqafi, he said: "Moses came to the tree at night while it was green and the fire was flickering in it. He went to take the fire, but it leaned away from him, so he was alarmed and startled. Then he was called from the right edge of the valley—he said: from the right of the tree—'O Moses!' He felt comforted by the voice, and asked: 'Where are You? Where are You?' towards the voice. He said: 'I am above you.' He asked: 'My Lord?' He said: 'Yes.'"
His saying (Exalted is He): "And throw down your staff."
16140 - Abu 'Abd Allah al-Tihrani informed us, in what he wrote to me, Isma'il ibn 'Abd al-Karim informed us, from 'Abd al-Samad ibn Ma'qil, he said: "I heard Wahb saying: The Lord (Exalted and Majestic is He) said to him: 'Throw it down, O Moses.' Moses thought He meant to discard it, so he threw it down with the intention of discarding it."
His saying (Exalted is He): "Your staff."
16141 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Abi Hammad narrated to us, Mihran narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding the staff of Moses, he said: "That staff was given to him by an angel from the angels when he headed toward Madyan. It would illuminate the night for him, he would strike the earth with it so that its plants would emerge for him, and he would use it to knock down leaves from trees for his sheep."
