His saying (Exalted is He): "O Moses, fear not."
16148 - Abu 'Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Hammad al-Tihrani informed us, in what he wrote to me, Isma'il ibn 'Abd al-Karim informed us, from 'Abd al-Samad ibn Ma'qil, he said: I heard Wahb saying: "When Moses witnessed that, he turned and fled and did not look back. He went until he had gone far and thought he had escaped the serpent. Then he remembered his Lord and stood still out of shame before Him. Then he was called: 'O Moses, return to Me where you were.' Moses returned, and he was in great fear. Then He said: 'Take hold of it and fear not; We shall restore it to its former state.'"
16149 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us, in what he wrote to me, Asbagh informed us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd regarding His saying: "And did not look back. O Moses, fear not," he said: "When he cast the staff, it became a serpent, and he was terrified and distressed by it. So Allah (Mighty and Majestic is He) said: 'Verily, messengers have no fear in My presence.' He said: 'But he was not calmed by that.' So He said to him: 'Approach and fear not; for you are of those who are secure.' He said: 'And he did not look back at any of this until Allah (Mighty and Majestic is He) said: "We shall restore it to its former state."' He said: 'So he looked, and behold, it was a staff as it had been. So he returned and took it. Then he became strong against it thereafter, until he began casting it upon Pharaoh and taking it.'"
