His saying (Exalted is He): "among nine signs"
[The First View]
16161 - Yunus ibn Habib narrated to us, Abu Dawud narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Murrah informed me that he heard 'Abd Allah ibn Salamah narrating from Safwan ibn 'Assal al-Muradi, that two men from the People of the Book said to one another: "Take us to this Prophet." The other said: "Do not call him a prophet, for if he hears that, he will have four eyes [i.e., he will be overjoyed]." So they came to him and asked him about nine signs. The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Do not associate anything with Allah, do not kill, do not steal, do not commit adultery, do not practice sorcery, do not consume usury, do not slander a chaste woman, do not flee from the battlefield, and do not walk with an innocent person to the ruler to have him killed or harmed; and specifically for you, O Jews, that you do not transgress the Sabbath." They kissed his hand and his feet and said: "We bear witness that you are a Prophet of Allah." He said: "What prevented you from following me?" They said: "David prayed that there would always be a prophet in his progeny, and we fear that if we follow you, the Jews will kill us."
The Second View:
16162 - My father narrated to us, al-Nufayli narrated to us, Yunus ibn Rashid from Khusayf, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "among nine signs," he said: "It is the flood, the locusts, the lice, the frogs, the blood, the staff, the hand, and the decrease in fruits and years." This was also reported from 'Ubayd ibn 'Umayr, al-Sha'bi, 'Ikrimah, Abu Salih, al-Suddi, and Muhammad ibn Ka'b similarly.
16163 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abd al-Malik ibn al-Rabi' ibn Abi Rashid narrated to us, 'Amr ibn 'Atiyyah narrated to us, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding "nine signs," he said: "His hand, his staff, his tongue, the sea, the flood, the locusts, the lice, the frogs, and the blood are distinct signs."
16164 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Isa narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, Buraydah ibn Sufyan ibn Farwah al-Aslami narrated to me, from Muhammad ibn Ka'b al-Qurazi,
