Volume 9 · Page 60His saying (the Exalted): 'To Pharaoh and his people'

Translation · EN

He said: 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz asked me about the nine signs that Allah showed Pharaoh, and I said: The flood, the locusts, the lice, the frogs, the blood, his staff, his hand, the darkness, and the sea.'

His saying (Exalted is He): "to Pharaoh and his people"

16165 - Abu 'Abd Allah al-Tehrani informed us in what he wrote to me, Isma'il ibn 'Abd al-Karim reported to us, from 'Abd al-Samad ibn Ma'qil, he said: I heard Wahb saying: His Lord (Mighty and Majestic is He) said to him: "O Musa, draw near." He did not draw near until he braced his back against the trunk of the tree, then he steadied himself, his trembling ceased, he gathered his hands around the staff, and lowered his head and neck. Then He said to him: "I have stood you today in a station that it is not befitting for any human being after you to stand in; I have brought you near and drawn you close until you heard My speech." The remainder of the hadith is written in Surah Taha.

His saying (Exalted is He): "Indeed, they were a disobedient people"

16166 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "disobedient," meaning: sinners.

His saying (Exalted is He): "So when Our signs came to them, visible"

16167 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas informed us, Yazid narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "So when Our signs came to them, visible," meaning: clear.

His saying (Exalted is He): "they said, 'This is obvious magic'"

16168 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Isa narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq regarding "This is obvious magic," meaning: there is no magician who is more magical than you.

His saying (Exalted is He): "And they denied them"

16169 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid al-Narsi informed us, Yazid narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding "And they denied them," and denial only occurs after knowledge.

16170 - 'Ubayd ibn Yahya ibn Hamzah informed us in what he wrote to me, Abu al-Jumahir narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Bashir narrated to me, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And they denied them," he said: The people denied them, and "them" in His saying: "denied them" refers to the signs of Allah (Mighty and Majestic is He).

قَالَ: سَأَلَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، عَنِ التِّسْعِ آيَاتٍ الَّتِي أَرَاهُنَّ اللَّهُ فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُلْتُ:

الطُّوفَانُ وَالْجَرَادُ وَالْقُمَّلُ وَالضَّفَادِعُ وَالدَّمُ وَعَصَاهُ وَيَدُهُ وَالطَّمْسَةُ وَالْبَحْرُ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ وَقَوْمِهِ

١٦١٦٥ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الطِّهْرَانِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، أَنْبَأَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ بْنِ مَعْقِلٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ وَهْبًا يَقُولُ: قَالَ لَهُ رَبُّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَا مُوسَى ادْنُهْ، فَلَمْ يُدْنِهِ، حَتَّى شَدَّ ظَهْرَهُ بِجِذْعِ الشَّجَرَةِ فَاسْتَقَرَّ وَذَهَبَتْ عَنْهُ الرِّعْدَةُ وَجَمَعَ يَدَيْهِ فِي الْعَصَا، وَخَضَعَ بِرَأْسِهِ وَعُنُقِهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ، إِنِّي قَدْ أَقَمْتُكَ الْيَوْمَ فِي مَقَامٍ لَا يَنْبَغِي لِبَشَرٍ بَعْدَكَ أَنْ يَقُومَ مَقَامَكَ، أَدْنَيْتُكَ وَقَرَّبْتُكَ، حَتَّى سَمِعْتَ كَلامِي.

وَبَاقِي الْحَدِيثِ مَكْتُوبٌ فِي سُورَةِ طَهَ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ

١٦١٦٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَوْلُهُ: فَاسِقِينَ يَعْنِي عَاصِينَ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَلَمَّا جَاءَتْهُمْ آيَاتُنَا مُبْصِرَةً

١٦١٦٧ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ، ثنا يَزِيدُ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: فَلَمَّا جَاءَتْهُمْ آيَاتُنَا مُبْصِرَةً أَيْ بَيِّنَة.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: قَالُوا هَذَا سِحْرٌ مُبِينٌ

١٦١٦٨ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى، ثنا سَلَمَةُ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ هَذَا سِحْرٌ مُبِينٌ أَيْ مَا سَاحِرٌ أَسْحَرَ مِنْكَ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَجَحَدُوا بِهَا

١٦١٦٩ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ، ثنا يَزِيدُ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ وَجَحَدُوا بِهَا وَالْجُحُودُ لَا يَكُونُ إِلا مِنْ بَعْدِ مَعْرِفَةٍ «١» .

١٦١٧٠ - أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَمْزَةَ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا أَبُو الْجُمَاهِرِ، حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: وَجَحَدُوا بِهَا قَالَ: كَذَّبَ بِهَا الْقَوْمُ وَبِهَا فِي قَوْلِهِ: بِهَا بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ «٢» .
