His saying (Exalted is He): "And their souls were certain thereof"
16171 - Musa ibn Harun al-Tusi informed us in what he wrote to me, al-Husayn ibn Muhammad al-Marwazi narrated to us, Shayban narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And they denied them, and their souls were certain thereof," he said: They denied them after their souls were certain that they were the truth.
16172 - 'Ubayd ibn Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Hamzah informed us in what he wrote to me, Abu al-Jumahir narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Bashir narrated to me, from Qatadah regarding "And their souls were certain thereof," he said: And their souls were certain that Musa is the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).
16173 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh narrated to me, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam saying regarding His saying: "And their souls were certain thereof," he said: They were certain that the signs were the truth from Allah, yet they denied them out of injustice and arrogance.
His saying (Exalted is He): "injustice and arrogance"
16174 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, 'Ali ibn al-Hasan ibn Shaqiq narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn Waqid narrated to us, Yazid al-Nahwi narrated to us, from 'Ikrimah, he said: "Arrogance" (al-'uluw) in the Book of Allah is tyranny.
16175 - Al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid ibn Mazid informed us by way of recitation, Muhammad ibn Shu'ayb ibn Shabur informed me, 'Uthman ibn 'Ata narrated to me, from his father 'Ata, regarding "injustice and arrogance," meaning: out of injustice, haughtiness, and pride.
16176 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn 'Ali narrated to us, 'Amir narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "And their souls were certain thereof, in injustice and arrogance," he said: They showed arrogance even though their souls were certain of it; this is a case of inversion (in the sentence structure). His saying: "So see how was the end of the corrupters."
16177 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja'far al-Razi narrated to us, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah, he said: Their corruption was disobedience to Allah, because whoever disobeys Allah on earth or commands disobedience has caused corruption on earth, for the soundness of the earth and the heavens is through obedience.
His saying (Exalted is He): "And We certainly gave to David and Solomon"
16178 - My father narrated to us, Ibn Nufayl narrated to us, 'Attab narrated to us, from Khusayf, from Ziyad ibn Abi Maryam regarding His saying: "gave to (atina)," he said: We bestowed.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَاسْتَيْقَنَتْهَا أَنْفُسُهُمْ
١٦١٧١ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ الطُّوسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ، ثنا شَيْبَانُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: وَجَحَدُوا بِهَا وَاسْتَيْقَنَتْهَا أَنْفُسُهُمْ قَالَ:
جَحَدُوا بها بعد ما اسْتَيْقَنَتْهَا أَنْفُسُهُمْ أَنَّهَا حَقٌّ.
١٦١٧٢ - أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَمْزَةَ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا أَبُو الْجُمَاهِرِ، حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ وَاسْتَيْقَنَتْهَا أَنْفُسُهُمْ وَقَدْ أَيْقَنَتْهَا أَنْفُسُهُمْ، أَنَّ مُوسَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
١٦١٧٣ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، أَنَا أَصْبَغُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ يَقُولُ: فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَاسْتَيْقَنَتْهَا أَنْفُسُهُمْ قَالَ: اسْتَيْقَنُوا أَنَّ الآيَاتِ مِنَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ فَلَمْ يَجْحَدُوا بِهَا، قَالَ: ظُلْمًا وَعُلُوًّا.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: ظُلْمًا وَعُلُوًّا
١٦١٧٤ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ، ثنا يَزِيدُ النَّحْوِيُّ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ قَالَ: الْعُلُوُّ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ التَّجَبُّرُ.
١٦١٧٥ - أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ مَزْيَدٍ قِرَاءَةً، أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ شَابُورَ، حَدَّثَنِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَطَا، عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَطَا، أَمَّا ظُلْمًا وَعُلُوًّا فُظُلْمًا وَتَعَظُّمًا وَاسْتِكْبَارًا.
١٦١٧٦ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ثنا عَامِرٌ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَوْلُهُ: وَاسْتَيْقَنَتْهَا أَنْفُسُهُمْ ظُلْمًا وَعُلُوًّا قَالَ: فَتُكَبَّرُوا وَقَدُ اسْتَيْقَنَتْهَا أَنْفُسُهُمْ، وَهَذَا فِي التَّقْدِيمِ وَالتَّأْخِيرِ قَوْلُهُ: فَانْظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُفْسِدِينَ
١٦١٧٧ - حَدَّثَنَا عِصَامُ بْنُ رَوَّادٍ، ثنا آدَمُ، ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الرَّازِيُّ، عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ قَالَ: وَكَانَ فَسَادُهُمْ ذَلِكَ مَعْصِيَةَ اللَّهِ لأَنَّهُ مَنْ عَصَى اللَّهَ فِي الأَرْضِ، أَوْ أَمَرَ بِمَعْصِيَةِ، فَقَدِ أَفْسَدَ فِي الأَرْضِ، لأَنَّ صَلاحَ الأَرْضِ وَالسَّمَاءِ بِالطَّاعَةِ.
١٦١٧٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا ابْنُ نُفَيْلٍ، ثنا عَتَّابُ، عَنْ خُصَيْفٍ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ قوله: آتَيْنَا قَالَ: أَعْطَيْنَا.
