His saying, the Almighty: "He said, 'I have encompassed [in knowledge] that which you have not encompassed'"
16237 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Abi Hammad narrated to us, Mihran narrated to us, from Sufyan, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Mujahid, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding: "I have encompassed [in knowledge] that which you have not encompassed," he said: I have discovered that which you have not discovered.
16238 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, with his chain of transmission back to Sufyan, regarding "I have encompassed [in knowledge] that which you have not encompassed," he says: I have known what you have not encompassed and what you have not known.
16239 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas informed us, Yazid narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "I have encompassed [in knowledge] that which you have not encompassed," meaning: I have reached that which you and your soldiers have not reached.
His saying, the Almighty: "And I have come to you from Sheba"
16240 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Yazid ibn Ruman regarding: "And I have come to you from Sheba with certain news," meaning: I have found a kingdom that your kingdom has not reached.
His saying, the Almighty: "From Sheba"
16241 - It was read to Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la, Ibn Wahb informed me, Ibn Lahi'ah informed me, he said: They say that Ma'rib is the city of Bilqis. There was only a mile between it and Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem), but when Allah became angry with it, He moved it far away. It is in Yemen today, and it is the one that Allah mentioned in the Quran: "There was for [the people of] Sheba in their dwelling place a sign," until He reached: "We repaid them for what they denied."
16242 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And I have come to you from Sheba," and Sheba is in the land of Yemen. It is called Ma'rib, and between it and San'a' is a journey of three days.
16243 - Muhammad ibn al-Faraj al-Asbahani narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Fayyad narrated to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi narrated to us, Ghalib al-Jazari narrated to us, who said: I heard al-Suddi say: Twelve prophets were sent to Sheba. He was named 'Tubba'' because of the many people who followed (taba'ahu) him.
