Section: If one is born with an extra finger or an extra hand within the area of the obligatory wash, it must be washed along with the original one because it is grown upon it; it is similar to a wart (8). If it is grown in an area outside the obligatory wash, such as the upper arm or the shoulder, it is not mandatory to wash it, regardless of whether it is short or long, because it is in a location outside the area of the obligatory wash, making it similar to the hair of the head when it falls below the face. This is the opinion of Ibn Hamid and Ibn Aqil. The Qadi said: If part of it is parallel to the area of the obligatory wash, one should wash the part of it that is parallel. The first view is more correct. The companions of al-Shafi'i (9) differed on this matter in a manner similar to what we have mentioned. If one does not know which is the original among them, it is mandatory to wash both, because washing one of them is obligatory, and one cannot be released from the obligation with certainty except by washing both, therefore it is mandatory to wash them both, just as if one of his two hands became impure and he did not know exactly which one it was.
Section: If a piece of skin is detached (10) from an area other than the obligatory wash, and it hangs down into the area of the obligatory wash, it must be washed, because its root is in the area of the obligatory wash, so it is similar to an extra finger. If it is detached (11) from the area of the obligatory wash until it becomes hanging from an area other than the obligatory wash, it is not mandatory to wash it, whether it is short or long, without disagreement, because it is not in the area of the obligatory wash. If it is detached (11) from one of the two areas, and its tip adheres to the other, while its middle remains suspended, it becomes like something grown in both areas; it is mandatory to wash what is parallel (12) to the area of the obligatory wash of its outer and inner surfaces, and to wash what is beneath it in the area of the obligatory wash.
Section: If his hand is severed below the elbow, he must wash what remains of the area of the obligatory wash. If it is severed at the elbow, he must wash the bone that is the end of the upper arm, because washing the two bones
