the invitation, based on what Salim ibn 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar narrated, who said: "I gave a wedding feast during my father's time, so my father invited people, and Abu Ayyub was among those we invited (39). We had covered my house with a green nijaad (curtain) (40). Abu Ayyub came quickly, looked in, and saw that the house was covered (41) with a green nijaad (40). He said: 'O 'Abd Allah, do you cover the walls?' My father said, while feeling embarrassed: 'The women have overcome us (42), O Abu Ayyub.' He said: 'I did not fear that anyone could be overcome by women, so I did not fear that they would overcome you.' Then he said: 'I will not eat your food, nor will I enter your house,' and he left." Recorded by al-Athram (44). It was narrated from 'Abd Allah ibn Yazid al-Khatmi that he was invited to a meal, and he saw that the house was decorated with curtains (munajjadan), so he sat outside and wept. It was said to him: "What makes you weep?" He said: "The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) saw a man who had patched a cloak of his with a piece of leather, and he said: 'The world has been spread out before you,' three times. Then he said: 'Are you better today, or [will you be] when a dish comes to you in the morning and another leaves in the evening, and when one of you goes out in one garment and returns in another, and you cover your houses as the Ka'bah is covered (45)?'" 'Abd Allah said: "Should I not weep, when I have remained until I saw you covering your houses as the Ka'bah is covered (46)?" Al-Khallal recorded, with his chain of narration from Ibn 'Abbas and 'Ali ibn al-Husayn, from the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), that he forbade the covering of walls (47). 'A'ishah narrated that the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) did not command
