it to him, and he said: "How, while she has claimed that!" Agreed upon (6). In a wording narrated by al-Nasa'i, he said: So I came to him from the direction of his face, and I said: "She is a liar." He said: "How, while she has claimed that she has breastfed you both! Leave her alone." This indicates the sufficiency of a single woman. Al-Zuhri said: A separation was carried out between families in the time of Uthman by the testimony of a woman regarding breastfeeding (7). Al-Awza'i said: Uthman separated between four [men] and their wives by the testimony of a single woman (8) regarding breastfeeding (7). [And al-Sha'bi said: The judges used to separate (9) between the husband and wife by the testimony of a single woman regarding breastfeeding] (10). And because this is a testimony regarding an intimate matter ('awrah), the testimony of women alone is accepted therein, like [testimony regarding] childbirth. [And this applies] to al-Shafi'i, because it is a matter in which the statement of women alone is accepted, so the testimony of [a single woman is accepted therein, like a report.
Section: The testimony of the wet nurse regarding her own act is accepted; due to what we mentioned from the hadith of Uqba, [from that] (15) the black slave woman said: "I have breastfed you both." So the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, accepted her testimony. And because it is an act from which she does not obtain an intended benefit, nor does she ward off any harm by it, so her testimony regarding it is accepted, like the act of anyone else. If it is said: She renders seclusion with him lawful, as well as traveling with him, and she becomes a mahram to him.
