He said: "I will assist him with a basket (araq) of dates." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I will assist him with another basket." He said: "You have done well. Go and feed sixty poor persons on his behalf, then return to your cousin." Al-Asma'i said: "The 'araq', with a fathah on the 'ayn and the ra', is what is woven from palm leaves, like a large basket." He also narrated, with his chain of transmission from Sulayman bin Yasar, from Salamah bin Sakhr al-Bayadi, who said: "I used to have such relations with women as no one else had. When the month of Ramadan entered, I feared that I might have relations with my wife that would continue until morning, so I practiced Zihar against her until the month of Ramadan passed. One night, while she was serving me, a part of her body was revealed to me, and I could not resist mounting her. When morning came, I went out to my people and told them what had happened, and I said: 'Walk with me to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).' They said: 'No, by Allah.' So I went to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and told him the story. He said: 'Are you the one who did that, O Salamah?' I replied: 'I am the one who did that, O Messenger of Allah, and I am patient for the judgment of Allah, so judge regarding me as Allah shows you.' He said: 'Free a slave.' I said: 'By the One who sent you with the truth, I do not possess any slave other than her,' and I struck the side of my neck. He said: 'Then fast for two consecutive months.' I said: 'Have I only fallen into what I fell into because of fasting?' He said: 'Then feed a wasq of dates to sixty poor persons.' I said: 'By the One who sent you with the truth, we spent the night hungry, possessing no food.' He said: 'Then go to the one in charge of the Zakah of Banu Zurayq, and let him pay it to you.'
