because the entire [area] has become a mudiha through his action, so it is as if he had inflicted a mudiha on the whole area without a barrier remaining between them. If they heal, and then he removes the barrier between them, he is liable for the compensation of three mudihas, because the compensation for the first two was firmly established upon him upon healing, and then the blood money for the third became binding. If the tissue between them eroded before they healed and disappeared, he is not liable for more than the compensation of one, because the extension of his action is like his action [itself]. If one of them heals and the barrier is removed by his action, or by the extension of the other [wound], he is liable for the compensation of two mudihas. If a third party removes the barrier, the first party is liable for the compensation of two mudihas, and the second party is liable for the compensation of one mudiha, because the act of one does not build upon the act of the other, so each one is unique in the ruling of his offense. If the victim removes it, the first party is liable for the compensation of two mudihas, because what became due by his offense does not lapse by the act of another. If they disagree, and the perpetrator says, "I split what is between them," and the victim says, "Rather, I did," or "Another person besides you removed it," then the statement is that of the victim, because the cause for the compensation of two mudihas has been found, and the perpetrator claims its cessation, while the victim denies it; the statement is that of the one denying, and the presumption is with him. If he inflicts two mudihas, then severs the flesh between them in the interior while leaving the skin that is over them, there are two positions regarding it: one is that he is liable for the compensation of two mudihas, because they are separate in appearance; the second is the compensation of one mudiha, because they are connected in the interior. If he inflicts a single wound, and he makes a mudiha at its two ends, while the rest of it is less than a mudiha, then he is liable for the compensation of two mudihas, because what is between them is not a mudiha.

1505 - Issue: He said: "And for the hashimah (fracture), there are ten camels, and it is the one that clears the bone and fractures it."

Al-Hashimah: It is that which exceeds the mudiha, by fracturing the bone; it was called hashimah due to its fracturing
