from the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, that they would hasten slightly when they feared missing the first takbir.
It is recommended to take short steps in order to increase one's good deeds, for every step taken will result in a good deed being recorded for him. Abd ibn Humayd narrated in his Musnad, with his isnad from Zayd ibn Thabit, who said: The prayer was established, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, went out walking, and I was with him. He shortened his steps, then said: "Do you know why I did this? So that our steps toward the prayer may be multiplied."
It is disliked to interlace one's fingers, because of what was narrated from Ka'b ibn 'Ujra, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "When one of you performs ablution (wudu) and performs it well, then goes out heading to the mosque, he must not interlace his fingers, for he is in a state of prayer." Narrated by Abu Dawud.
Section: It is recommended to say what was narrated by Ibn Abbas, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, went out to the prayer saying: "O Allah, place light in my heart, and light in my tongue, and place light in my hearing, and place light in my vision, and place light behind me, and in front of me, and place light above me, and below me, and grant me light."
