the sun turns yellow" (4). And in the hadith of Buraydah, the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, prayed ʿAṣr on the second day while the sun was white and pure, not mixed with any yellowness (5). Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr said: The scholars have reached a consensus that whoever prays ʿAṣr while the sun is white and pure has prayed it in its time. This (6) is evidence that observing the two equal lengths is, in their view, a recommendation, and perhaps they are close to each other, with one found near the other.
Section: It is not permissible to delay ʿAṣr beyond the time of preference without an excuse, due to the aforementioned reports. Muslim and Abū Dāwūd narrated with their chains of transmission from Anas ibn Mālik, who said: I heard the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, say: "That is the prayer of the hypocrites, that is the prayer of the hypocrites, that is the prayer of the hypocrites. One of them sits until, when the sun turns yellow and is between the two horns of a devil, or upon the two horns of a devil (7), he stands up and pecks out four [rakʿahs], not remembering God in them except a little" (8). If delaying it were permitted, he would not have condemned him for it and made it a sign of hypocrisy.
113 - Issue; He said: (And whoever catches one rakʿah of it before the sun sets has caught it with necessity.)
Its summary is that whoever delays the prayer and then catches one rakʿah of it before the sun sets has caught it and is performing it within its time, whether he delayed it for an excuse or without an excuse, except that it is only permitted
