being aware of the prohibition of that, his prayer is invalidated. But if he did it out of ignorance or forgetfulness, it is not invalidated, and he returns to the sitting posture of separation and performs the prostration of forgetfulness (sujud al-sahw).

Section: If he intends to bow but falls to the ground, he must stand up and then bow. Likewise, if he bows and falls before achieving tranquility, he is required to repeat the bowing, because he did not perform what would discharge his obligation. If he bows and achieves tranquility, then falls, he stands upright and does not need to repeat the bowing, because his obligation has been discharged and the requirement of standing upright from it has been fulfilled by his standing.

Section: If he bows and then raises his head, and remembers that he did not recite the glorification (tasbih) in his bowing, he does not return to the bowing, whether he remembered it before standing upright or after; because the obligation of tasbih fell away upon his rising, and the bowing occurred validly and sufficiently. If he returns to it, he has added an unprescribed bowing to the prayer. If he did so intentionally, he invalidates the prayer, just as if he added it without an excuse. If he did so out of ignorance or forgetfulness, the prayer is not invalidated, as in the case where he mistakenly thinks he did not bow. He then performs the prostration of forgetfulness. If a follower (ma'mum) catches up with the Imam in this bowing, he does not attain the rak'ah, because it is not prescribed for him, and because he did not attain the bowing of the rak'ah, thus it is akin to not catching him while he is bowing.

160- Issue: He said: "Then he makes the Takbir for prostration, and he does not raise his hands."

As for the prostration, it is obligatory by the text (nass) and consensus (ijma'), for the same reasons we mentioned regarding bowing. Tranquility within it is a pillar (rukn), according to the statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in the hadith of the one who performed his prayer poorly: "Then prostrate until you are tranquil while prostrating." The disagreement regarding it is like the disagreement regarding the tranquility of bowing. He descends to the prostration while reciting the Takbir, based on the reports we mentioned, and because the act of descending into prostration is a pillar, so it cannot be devoid of dhikr, like the other pillars. The beginning of his Takbir corresponds to the beginning of his descent, and its end corresponds to the end of it; the discussion on the Takbir and its obligation has already passed.

It is not recommended to raise his hands, according to the well-known view of the Madhhab. Al-Maymuni narrated from him that he used to raise his hands. He was asked about raising the hands in prayer, and he replied: "In every lowering and raising."
