Our evidence is what was narrated from ʿAlī, may God be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said on the Day of the Confederates: They distracted us from the middle prayer, the ʿAṣr prayer; may God fill their houses and graves with fire. It is agreed upon. From Ibn Masʿūd, he said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said: The middle prayer is the ʿAṣr prayer. From Samura, the like of it. Al-Tirmidhī said regarding each of them: This is a Hasan (good) Sahih (authentic) hadith. This is an explicit text (naṣṣ) with which it is not permissible to deviate toward anything that contradicts it, and because the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said: He who misses the ʿAṣr prayer, it is as if he were bereaved of his family and wealth. It is agreed upon, and he said: Whoever misses the ʿAṣr prayer
