O Messenger of Allah, we have been taught how to greet you, so how do we invoke blessings upon you? He said: "Say: O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon the family of Abraham, You are indeed Worthy of Praise, Full of Glory. And bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You blessed the family of Abraham, You are indeed Worthy of Praise, Full of Glory." Agreed upon. Al-Athram narrated from Fadalah ibn 'Ubayd that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) heard a man supplicating in his prayer without glorifying his Lord or invoking blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "This one has been hasty." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called him and said: "If one of you performs prayer, let him begin by glorifying his Lord and praising Him, then let him invoke blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), then let him supplicate after that with whatever he wishes." This is because prayer is an act of worship in which the mention of Allah the Almighty by the Shahadah is a condition, thus the mention of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is a condition, just like in the Adhan. As for the hadith of Ibn Mas'ud, Al-Daraqutni said: The addition in it is from the speech of Ibn Mas'ud.

Section: The form of invoking blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is as Al-Khiraqi mentioned, because of what we mentioned from
