Forgive our sins, absolve us of our evil deeds, and take our souls in death along with the righteous. Our Lord, and grant us what You promised us through Your messengers, and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection; indeed, You do not fail [in] Your promise." Reported by Al-Athram. And from Abdullah who said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to teach us the Tashahhud as he used to teach us a Surah from the Quran. And make us grateful for Your favor (1), praising You for it, accepting it, and complete it (2) for us." Reported by Abu Dawud (3). And from Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): Teach me a supplication with which I may supplicate in my prayer. He said: "Say: O Allah, I have wronged my soul with much injustice, and none forgives sins except You, so grant me a forgiveness from You, and have mercy upon me, for You are the Oft-Forgiving, the Merciful." Agreed upon (4). And from Abu Huraira who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to a man: "What do you say in the prayer?" He said: I recite the Tashahhud, then I ask Allah for Paradise and seek refuge in Him from the Fire. But by Allah, I do not understand your humming (5), nor the humming of Mu'adh. He said: "Around it we hum." Reported by Abu Dawud (6). And in the hadith of Jabir, that
