peace and blessings of God be upon him, that he said: "The twilight is the redness, so when the twilight disappears, the ʿIshāʾ prayer becomes obligatory." It was narrated by al-Dāraquṭnī. What they narrated provides no proof for them, for the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, used to delay the prayer slightly from the beginning of the time, and this is the most excellent and preferred. For this reason, it was narrated from him, peace and blessings of God be upon him, that he said to Bilāl: "Place between your adhān and your iqāmah an amount that allows the eater to finish his meal, the one performing ablution to finish his ablution, and the one who enters to relieve himself to finish his need." Once this is established, if one is in a place where the horizon is visible to him and the disappearance of the twilight is clear to him, then whenever the redness departs and disappears, the time for the ʿIshāʾ prayer enters. If one is in a place where the horizon is concealed from him by walls and mountains, he should exercise caution until the whiteness disappears, so that he may use its disappearance as an indication of the disappearance of the redness. Thus, he considers the disappearance of the whiteness for its indication of the disappearance of the redness, not for itself. 116 - Issue; He said: (And when one-third of the night has passed, the time of preference (ikhtiyār) has passed, and the time of necessity (ḍarūra) remains until the second dawn rises, which is the whiteness that appears from the direction of the east, then spreads, and there is no darkness after it.) The narration differed regarding the end of the time of preference. It was narrated from Aḥmad that it is one-third of the night. Aḥmad stated this in the narration of the group, and it is the view of ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb, may God be pleased with him, Abū Hurayrah, ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz, and Mālik; because in the hadith of Jibrīl, he prayed with the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, in the second instance at one-third of the night, and said: "The time is between these two." In the hadith of Buraydah, the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, prayed it on the second day at one-third of the night. From ʿĀʾishah
