This is the school of thought of al-Shafi'i. Ibn 'Aqil said: The more likely opinion is prohibition, because half is a large amount. [As for cloaks (jibab) stuffed with raw silk, the Qadi said: It is not prohibited, which is the school of thought of al-Shafi'i, due to the absence of arrogance in it. It is also possible that it is prohibited due to the generality of the report. This also applies to mattresses stuffed with silk] (120).

Section: As for garments that have images (121) of animals on them, Ibn 'Aqil said: It is disliked (makruh) to wear them, but it is not prohibited. Abu al-Khattab said: It is prohibited, because Abu Talha said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: "The angels do not enter a house that contains a dog or an image." Agreed upon (122). [The argument of those who do not consider it prohibited is that Zayd ibn Khalid narrated it from Abu Talha, from the Prophet (peace be upon him), and said at the end of it] (123): "Except for patterns (raqm) on a garment." Agreed upon. [Because it is permitted if it is used as a floor covering or to lean upon, so it is the same if it is worn] (124).

This is the school of thought of al-Shafi'i, because there is no disagreement regarding it. It is possible that it is prohibited due to the generality of the report, because it contains extravagance and wasting of wealth, so it is like the apparent case, and similar to if he made the lining of the cloak out of silk."(121) In the original: "images."(122) Recorded by al-Bukhari, in: "Chapter: If one of you says Amin... etc.", and "Chapter: If a fly falls into the drink of one of you... etc.", from the Book of the Beginning of Creation; and in: "Chapter: Khalifa narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah al-Ansari narrated to us," from the Book of Military Expeditions; and in: "Chapter: Images," and "Chapter: He who dislikes sitting on an image," from the Book of Clothing.
