Section: It is disliked to have [a cross on a garment] (125); [because 'Imran ibn Hattan narrated from] (126) 'Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would not leave anything in his house that had a cross on it without effacing it (127). It was recorded by Abu Dawud (128) [meaning he cut it off] (129).
Section: [Al-Athram said: I heard Abu 'Abd Allah being asked about wearing silk (khazz)? He saw no harm in it] (130). Al-Athram recorded, with his chain of narration from 'Imran ibn Husayn, Anas ibn Malik, al-Hasan ibn 'Ali, Abu Hurayra, Qays, Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyya, Ghaylan ibn Jarir (131), and Shubayl ibn 'Awf (132), that they wore garments (mata'rif) (133) made of silk. He also recorded, with his chain of narration from Qatada, that Anas ibn Malik, 'A'idh ibn 'Amr, 'Imran ibn Husayn, Abu Hurayra, Ibn 'Abbas, and Abu Qatada used to wear silk. He also recorded, with his chain of narration from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf, al-Husayn ibn 'Ali, 'Abd Allah ibn al-Harith ibn Abi Rabi'a, and al-Qasim ibn Muhammad, that they wore silk cloaks (jibab). And with his chain of narration from Anas ibn Malik and Shurayh, that they wore silk hoods (baranis) (134), and with his chain of narration from 'Ammar ibn Abi 'Ammar, he said: Silk garments (mata'rif) came to Marwan,
