the Quran except for the verses of prostration, for he omits them. Both are disliked. [As for us, it is not narrated from the predecessors, rather what is reported from them is the dislike of it] (47), [and there is no parallel to it to be drawn by analogy] (48).

Section: Some of our companions said: It is disliked for the Imam to recite a prostration verse in a prayer where recitation is not audible, and if he does recite it, he should not prostrate. This is the opinion of Abu Hanifah; [because it contains an illusion for the follower] (49). Al-Shafi'i did not dislike it, because Ibn 'Umar narrated from the Prophet - peace and blessings of Allah be upon him - that he prostrated during the Zuhr prayer, then stood up and bowed, and his companions thought that he had recited the chapter of al-Sajdah. Narrated by Abu Dawud (50). Following the Prophet - peace and blessings of Allah be upon him - is more appropriate. When the Imam prostrates, the follower prostrates with him (51). Some of our companions said: The follower has the choice between [following his imam in the prostration or omitting it; because it is not a Sunnah for the imam, and the listening that necessitates the prostration is not present. This is refuted by the case where the imam is far away in an audible prayer, and cannot be heard, or is deaf, for he prostrates with the prostration of his imam, along with what they have mentioned] (52). [And it is more appropriate to follow him] (53), due to the statement of the Messenger of Allah - peace and blessings of Allah be upon him -: "The imam has only been appointed to be followed, so if he prostrates, then prostrate" (54). And because if he were far away and could not hear, or were deaf in an audible prayer, he would prostrate with the prostration of his imam, and so it is here.

Section: The prostration of gratitude (sajdat al-shukr) is recommended upon the occurrence of renewed blessings or the averting of calamities. This is the opinion of al-Shafi'i, Ishaq, Abu Thawr, and Ibn al-Mundhir. Al-Nakha'i, Malik, and Abu
