or ignorant of the prohibition of doing so, [then it does not invalidate it, because it is an act that is not excessive, so it is like when he adds a prostration in prayer due to forgetfulness] (62). As for [when we say: It is a prostration of gratitude] (63), it is possible that [it does not invalidate it; because its cause is within the prayer, so it resembles the obligatory prostrations, and it is possible that it does invalidate it; because it is a prostration of gratitude] (64).
210 - Issue; He said: (And if the prayer and the evening meal are present, he should begin with the evening meal.)
The summary of it is that if [the evening meal and the prayer are present, and his soul craves the food, it is recommended] (1) that he begins with the evening meal. [And this is what Umar and his son said. Ibn Umar ate dinner while he was hearing the recitation of the Imam. (2) And Ibn Abbas said: We do not stand for prayer while we have something on our minds. And this is what al-Shafi'i, Ishaq, and Ibn al-Mundhir said. Malik said: He should begin with the prayer, unless it is a light meal; because it has been narrated from Ibn Umar similar to this. As for us, there is what Anas narrated from the Prophet - peace and blessings of Allah be upon him - that he said] (3): "When the evening meal is served and the prayer is called, then begin with it before you perform the Maghrib prayer, and do not be hasty regarding your evening meal." And from Aisha, she said: I heard the Messenger of Allah - peace and blessings of Allah be upon him - saying: "There is no prayer when food is present, nor while he is holding back the two impurities." And from Ibn Umar, he said: The Messenger of Allah - peace and blessings of Allah be upon him - said: "When the evening meal of one of you is served and the prayer is established, then begin with the evening meal, and do not be hasty until he has finished it." Narrated by them
(62) Omitted from: (M). (63) In (M): "The prostration - peace and blessings of Allah be upon him - if he prostrated it in prayer and we said it is not one of the definitive (obligatory) prostrations." Confusion. (64) In (M): "It invalidates the prayer; because it is a prostration of gratitude. And it is possible that it does not invalidate it; because its cause is from the prayer, and it is related to recitation, so it is like the prostration of recitation. And Allah knows best." (1) In (M): "The evening meal at the time of prayer, so it is recommended." (2) See: The chapter on if the evening meal is present, one should not be hasty about his evening meal, from the Book of Foods, in Sahih al-Bukhari 7/107. And in (M) after this: "Both of them were narrated by Muslim and others. And there is no difference whether he attends the congregational prayer and fears missing it in the congregation or does not fear that, for in some wordings of the hadith of Anas: 'When the evening meal is present and the prayer is established, then begin with the evening meal'." (3) In (M): "Before the prayer; so that it may be more relieving for his heart, and more focused for his attention, and it is not recommended that he be hasty about his evening meal or lunch, for Anas narrated from the Prophet - peace and blessings of Allah be upon him - that he said."
