to Aishah: "Remove this qiram (curtain) of yours from us, for its images continue to present themselves to me in my prayer." It was narrated by al-Bukhari (62). It is disliked to raise the gaze; because of what al-Bukhari (63) narrated that Anas said, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "What is wrong with people who raise their eyes to the sky during their prayer!" He spoke strongly about that, until he said: "They must stop, or their eyesight will surely be snatched away." It is also disliked for a man to pray with his hand on his waist (khasirah); because of what Abu Hurayrah narrated, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade a man from praying while placing his hand on his waist (mutakhassiran). It was narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim (64). And from Ziyad ibn Subayh al-Hanafi, who said: I prayed next to Ibn Umar and I placed my hand on my waist, so when he

لِعَائِشَةَ: "أَمِيطِى عَنَّا قِرَامَكِ (٦١) هَذَا؛ فَإنَّهُ لَا يَزَالُ تَصَاوِيرُهُ تَعْرِضُ لِى في صَلَاتِى". رَوَاهُ البُخَارِىُّ (٦٢). ويُكْرَهُ رَفْعُ البَصَرِ؛ لما رَوَى البُخَارِىُّ (٦٣) أنَّ أنَسًا، قال: قال النبيُّ -صلى اللَّه عليه وسلم-: "ما بَالُ أَقْوَامٍ يَرْفَعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُم إلى السَّمَاءِ في صَلَاتِهِمْ! " فاشْتَدَّ قَوْلُه في ذلك، حتى قال: "لَيَنْتَهُنَّ، أوْ لَتُخْطَفَنَّ أَبْصَارُهُمْ". ويُكْرَهُ أن يُصَلِّىَ ويَدُهُ على خَاصِرَتِه؛ لما رَوَى أبو هُرَيْرَةَ، أنَّ النَّبِيَّ -صلى اللَّه عليه وسلم- نَهَى أن يُصَلِّىَ الرَّجُلُ مُتَخَصِّرًا. رَوَاهُ البُخَارِىُّ، ومُسْلِمٌ (٦٤). وعن زِيَادِ بنِ صُبَيْحٍ الحَنَفِيِّ، قال: صَلَّيْتُ إلى جَنْبِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، فوَضَعْتُ يَدِى على خَاصِرَتِى، فلما
