Section: If the followers (ma'mumun) are aware of his (the imam's) omission of the first tashahhud before they stand up, and after their imam has stood up, they follow him in standing and do not sit for the tashahhud. [Al-Ajurri narrated this from (26) Ahmad and said: This is the view of Malik, al-Shafi'i, Abu Thawr, and the people of Iraq. We know of no disagreement regarding this] (27); this is because when the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) forgot the first tashahhud and stood up, the people stood with him. A group of the Companions who led people in prayer also did this; they rose during the second [rak'ah] from a sitting position, and they (the followers) prompted them (by saying SubhanAllah), but they did not pay attention to those who prompted them. Some of them gestured to them to stand, so they stood. He (Ahmad) said (28): Among what Ahmad used as evidence from the actions of the Companions is that they used to (29) stand with him. He said: Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, who said (30): Al-Mas'udi (31) informed us, from [Ziyad ibn 'Alaqah] (32), who said: Al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah led us in prayer, and when he had prayed two rak'ahs, he stood up without sitting. Those behind him prompted him, so he signaled to them to (33) stand. When he finished his prayer, he saluted, prostrated twice, and then saluted (34). Then he said: This is how the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) did (35). He said: Waki' narrated to us,
